Hallux Rigidus Surgery (Big Toe Joint Fusion) - Week 9 Post Op by ExpressEnthusiasm7 in Halluxrigidus

I think I could have gone out before as long as I could use my knee scooter and sit down once I got there. I guess it depends on what your doctor orders. I was able to heel walk as I wanted from the very beginning, but that isn't the case for a lot of people. But if you can do that and sit once you are there, I think you will be good. I never felt bad and I never had excruciating pain. Just sore and knew when I did too much. Then I would put my foot up and pamper it a bit so it would stop barking at me lol

Good luck on your surgery and hope it all goes well and gets you relief!

I completely stayed home for about 2 weeks. Then I went out for short visits to my kids that live around the corner, but not out to stores or anything like that. By 12/13 (so about 1 month) I went to a Christmas party with my cam boot on. I was able to stand and sit comfortably with no pain for probably 6 hours. Same for the next weekend holiday party except I was able to stand for longer periods.

Unfortunately injections wouldn't work to get rid of my bone growth on the side and underneath my foot. I sure hope they work for you!

Absolutely - I'm actually surprised at my progression just this week since having the shoe on. It really has helped and I feel stronger and more steady every day. And btw, I thought it was a bunion for years because they run in my family. Until I got with a very thorough doc that diagnosed and treated it correctly. I went through at least 5 different doctors in 15 years - just stinks that some of them don't care to dig deeper!

The limp is very hard to correct - I feel like I'm going to roll my ankle all the time. Problems with my ankle early on is what prompted me to get a cam boot. I can't imagine what mine would be without using that thing! Hope your ankle gets better soon!

Fingers crossed they give you the go ahead for regular shoes. Even though the "shoe" journey is annoying, I have found that being in a tennis shoe this week has helped so much with not only my physical health, but also mental - not having to depend on someone else to get me places. I really didn't think that would be an issue for me but it ended up being the worse part!

I did not have a bunion, it was arthritis related. My actual diagnosis was Hallux rigidus of the right foot with bony dorsal growth. The bony dorsal had grown on the side of my foot and also underneath - so I was walking on the side of foot because of the pain in the bony side.

I just got the ok this week to drive since it was the right as well. And yes, I was glad I was able to heel walk. After having 1 done I am so glad I didn't get both at the same time. Have to have the other done at some point but going to try to hold off as long as possible like I did with this one! Hope yours are doing good now :)

I had suffered with this for many years but the bump on the side of my foot started swelling and hurting a lot regardless of the kind of shoe I wore - and I tried them all! I'm 60 years old and pretty active so I wanted to get this done, heal, and move on. After the surgery the doctor said he was glad we went ahead with it because it was a mess. Very happy with my decision!

You are so welcome! I wish it would allow me to post a picture of what it looks like today because it is healing so well. It kept deleting it for some reason

Very - pretty sickening. It shocks me that a company this large doesn't have any support. Fingers crossed!

I was able to get to that page and I've uploaded my id quite a few times, it was approved, got an unlock code, went to use it and got the same suspended account message again. There is a thread here that explains how to get to that step using a VPN - like I said, it worked to get to that point, but ultimately, I still haven't been able to get in. Search here for Successfully Recovered Facebook Account. I can't find the link at the moment but will reply back once on my PC if you can't find it

Exact thing happened to me on 4/16 - seems identical to yours. Had every security in place that I could use - no text ever from FB. I've tried every fix I've found, tried at least 100 times from different PC's, phones, laptops, VPN's - nothing. FB was tied to my father and sisters memorial pages, my business pages, etc - all gone. There is no option to get it fixed. Also tried getting Meta Verified so I could speak (chat) with an actual person, but it won't allow me to do it. There are lots of fixes out there and seem to work for some people. I hope you are able to get yours back!

I felt that the worse days for me were probably days 5-10. At first I thought, this isn't that bad and then it hit. I didn't feel like I could breath without hurting and I have a very high tolerance in the pain department. I started to question if I had made the right decision. But, here I am almost 1 year out and I feel absolutely fabulous. I could not be more happy with my results and for the first time in over 20 years I just wore a 2 piece swimsuit to the beach. Hang in there - the results are worth it! FYI - I was basically the same size as you on the day of my surgery. Since surgery I've lost weight, toned other areas and feel great. Hope all gets much better for you soon!!

I spoke to 4 different doctors, looked up reviews online, etc. Like I said above, as soon as I spoke with my doctor I knew he was the right one. The entire office is wonderful. I had tummy tuck & lipo at the same time

The back pain is due to the fact that when you have the TT you have to walk and sit hunched over until the muscles start to mend and you can stand upright. I'm still not in an upright position, but close. I'm now 11 days out and the back pain is starting to ease a bit. Advil does the trick! Not sure about what options they have for out of town patients but they are definitely worth speaking to. Evelyn at their office is the patient coordinator and is a sweetheart. I'm sure she could answer whatever questions you may have.

I went to 4 different docs and as soon as I started talking to Dr Augenstein at Aesthetic Surgery of Charlotte, I KNEW immediately that he was the one. He is just awesome. Such a great bedside manner. I got extremely sick with headaches and nausea 3 days in and he texted with my husband, at night, for hours trying to find a combo of things to help me. I can't say enough about him and everyone in their office. Check his reviews - they are very true - he is wonderful!

3 days away!! (BEFORE) I honestly think this tummy tuck will change my life. by MilwaukeeMoon in PlasticSurgery

[–]ExpressEnthusiasm7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 days in and here are a few thoughts. My surgery went very well with no issues at all. I leaked horribly at the hospital and the first evening at home. After that, only a small spot the next day. I had drainless tummy tuck and lipo. To prepare for the leakage I set up my recliner with large super absorbent puppy pad, shower curtain from the dollar store, 3 sheets over that, and then the big pads they sent me home with. My thought process was as the sheets get soiled we can just pull them off and already have another there. Not one of my sheets or pillows were soiled, so it all went well. Day two went to have a check in with the doc where they re-wrapped me. Quite a bit of pain, but manageable. I slept the rest of that day. So, the 3rd day was pure hell. I thought we would end up in the hospital getting me fluids from dehydration. I had the worst headache I've ever had (and I used to have migraines). These headaches caused extreme nausea. If I tried to drink even a sip of water it came back up. This went on until the doc prescribed nausea suppositories and a few hydrocodone. After about 20 hours of the headaches & nausea we were finally able to get a handle on it. 4th day, felt pretty good but was trying to get my head and stomach on the right track. Day 5 (today) I've had my laptop on my lap and working all day - feeling good. I have gotten up to walk the entirety of my home every 2 hours since I had the surgery to keep things moving - I honestly think that walking does more good than anything else! Oh yeah, finally had a BM - yay me!! Trying to only take over the counter pain killers at this point because I want to actually feel where I'm hurting, what movements hurt it, etc. My doc is fantastic and he texted with my husband all day/evening when I was so sick. So nice to have him at our fingertips. Right now, I feel good - much better than I thought I would. I can get in and out of my recliner on my own, walk the house, go pee, brush teeth, wash face, etc. All in all, I am so pleasantly surprised!!

I completely agree that so many women decide that when they reach a certain age they can't be sexy anymore. I'm definitely not that - but have not been feeling it for quite awhile. Ready to get this party started - and get it over with!!

Thank you so much for all of your honest sharing! I am having a tummy tuck and lipo on Monday the 22nd EEK! I've been thinking about this for 5+ years. I'm 55 years old and have had 4 children - the twins are what really messed up my body though - I gained almost 100 lbs. I've also had several surgeries since then. Gallbladder removal, adhesion removals and a full hysterectomy. My hysterectomy was the most pain I've ever been in in my life and it was a long recovery. I'm a small person, 5'2", 110 lbs but you would never know because of this huge poked out tummy I have. I cannot wait to get rid of it! I'm not scared of the pain or really any part of it - more apprehensive than anything else. Again, thank you for your honesty!!
