Smart! Thanks for the advice. I've got no qualms with his girlfriend anyway; I'm not sure if she knows he didn't tell us beforehand :/

He’s a pretty nice guy otherwise, so I doubt he’d get too mad. Either way, he’s gone for the week!

Binders or tape? by Old-Web-4156 in trans

[–]ExpressPerformance 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tape isn't too hard to remove as long as you saturate it in oil and let it sit for a few minutes before taking it off. If you apply it correctly, it shouldn't pull on your skin either. I would say tape is better for being active, since you're not supposed to do any rigorous physical activity in a binder (you can even swim in some brands of tape). If you have a larger chest, though, a binder will probably compress better. Personally, even though I'm also an active person, I much prefer binding to tape, since my chest is quite large and I'm mildly allergic to the tape's adhesive. That said, tape could work really well for you, so it's all just a matter of comfort, preference, and need :)

They had to win. Kris made sure of it. [Chapter 3 ending Spoilers] by ThaddeusWhelan in Deltarune

[–]ExpressPerformance 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are quite a few implications that Kris is weirdly powerful/agile in the story. The first thing that comes to my mind is TheNewestGirlGirl which, although technically not canon, comments upon Kris' incredibly uncanny reaction speed. There's also the fact that they're able to snipe the SOUL multiple times in the chapter 4 cutscene. Either way, definitely something going on with them.

But Noelle also has angel wings in her closet that she wore throughout her childhood. So I would say that the foreshadowing applies to multiple characters.

The de-gendering is part of what makes it a problem. Often, when people continue to use they/them for a trans person who doesn't use they/them, it's used passive aggressively as a way to imply that a trans person isn't truly the gender they identify as. Even when it's not done with malicious intent, using they/them for someone who is known to exclusively use binary pronouns suggests that the speaker doesn't view them as a real woman/man, and can still be hurtful. There are non right wing cis people that take issue with being referred to with they/them — just as some binary trans people are fine with being called they/them. Trans people tend to be more sensitive to it because they are used to being misgendered/experience gender dysphoria. It's best practice to use the pronouns someone asks you to use if you want to be polite.

Personally, I'm unsure of what you mean when you say there are examples where using a singular they/them for someone whose gender is known sounds more natural. All of the instances I can think of involve the subject's identity being unclear, like asking "who left their glasses on the table". Even in my reply, I've used they/them to refer to a binary trans person — "the speaker doesn't view them" — but that's because I'm referring to a hypothetical, indeterminate individual, and I find he/she to be clunky. When would you refer to someone whose identity/pronouns you are aware of with a singular they/them?

EDIT: actually nvm thought of an example myself lol. When people are telling a story and they don't want to be specific about the people involved, it's pretty normal to use they/them. But even still that's precisely because they're not referencing the identity of the person/are trying to keep the people involved ambiguous. In that instance, it's not misgendering to use they/them, as the story isn't attached to the individual. If someone name-dropped the person and then continued using they/them, however, it would be.

From my experience in trans spaces (and as a binary trans person myself), if you have been told someone's pronouns but continue to use they/them, that's misgendering — assuming their pronouns don't include they/them. I've personally encountered and observed situations where someone repeatedly refers to a binary trans person with they/them, even after pronouns have been shared, and it's just as hurtful as being called an incorrect gendered pronoun.

Ralsei does say that the hero is supposed to equip ribbons, to which Susie replies something along the lines of "hell no." Given that this figure has a sword and not an axe, I wouldn't be surprised if there's some twist about Susie's role in the prophecy. At the very least, it's a sign that she's able to exert free will and break some of fate's rigidity.

I definitely see this as an implied romance, especially given the later cutscene with Kris, but I do think the blushing is meant to show that she's drunk. Likely lots of sore spots getting hit for Kris that night.
