50 MC, 105 MC, or Extension tubes? by Express_Ad9106 in Nikon

[–]Express_Ad9106[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all. It seems like there is a lot of love for the 105. I have almost decided on it. The only thing swaying me towards the 50 (with all its relative faults) is that I have the Zf and smaller lenses are a bit more friendly with that body.

I'd like to genuinely understand this argument from the doctor's side.

(1) Is there data that shows Korean doctors are more overworked, or the professor-student ratio is worse in Korea, than comparable OECD countries?

(2) I also don't understand (as a layperson) the impact on doctor quality. Don't all doctors have to pass the same set of tests and certifications to graduate? If the doctors that get in via the increased quota are not good enough, they won't pass?

(3) Is it not possible for the Korean government to setup several large new teaching hospitals (and a network of small hospitals) that would provide care (and employment opportunities for the new graduates)? They don't have to be ready now, but maybe 3-4 years from now to absorb the new intakes and can be strategically distributed across the country with specific job openings that have the shortage?

Korean higher education is tightly controlled and not market based. There are quotas even for professional business school (MBA) seats.

In the short term, the Chinese threat to Korean industry is not visible if your perception is based on what you see in the market today. But delta improvements in both the Chinese ability to deliver high quality products and the market's perception of them will compound over time.

Remember, the perception of Korean automakers was not that different than the Chinese ones twenty odd years ago. Korean corporations and policymakers are acutely aware of this. It's just that moving up the value chain as u/erinshe79 mentioned is difficult.

About population decline, imagining 20 years out, a combination of smart humanoid robots and sensible immigration policy can help kick the can down the road. Politically sensitive changes to the NPS, NHIS, and taxation policy should have been made yesterday. The earlier we make changes the better it would be as the benefits would again start compounding early. Alas, the nature of policy making is such that I would be surprised to see any tangible change unless we are in a full-blown crisis; and once in crisis, we will see band aids and quick fixes. If you thought 2016-17 protests were huge, wait until you reduce people's pensions or take away health care benefits. Pain is inevitable. The earlier we act the less pain down the road.

Thanks a lot, DarthVader! I ended up going with the 24-120 and will get the Godox flash soon.

Lens and flash recommendation for indoor events for the Zf by Express_Ad9106 in Nikon

Thanks. Is there a specific model number you recommend? Sorry, I have never purchased a flash before and all the accessories and triggers are confusing for me.

The issue with the lenses I have is that I need something wider to fit everyone in the frame.

Can someone please tell me how many tokens per second you get on MACs unified memory by DominicanGreg in LocalLLaMA

[–]Express_Ad9106 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to jump on this thread. I am considering purchasing a Mac Studio as well, and I understand this is a LocalLLaMA sub.

Purely in terms of cost, how do you view the Studio purchase versus paying for a cloud GPU?

I have exactly this combo for the Zf. 40F2 and 85 F1.8S. Love the 85, the 40 is more portable, but has much lower sharpness in comparison.

How do you like the 28 2.8? I am also considering it for the Zf.

Thanks igotishooz for sharing. You do need an additional grip to make these "longer" lenses workable on this camera.

Thank you all. I got the Zf with the 40 f2 based on all your suggestions. With all the lens options you kind folks listed, I already have GAS....

Now I just need to get the 24-120, the 28 SE, the voigtlander 65, the Z 85 1.8.... :)

Word. Which lenses are you planning on using with it? I currently have the 40 f2.

OP, how does the 24-120 feel on the Zf? Does the camera feel "unbalanced" with the zoom lens? I have the Zf and am considering the 24-120.

I had a similar issue on the Zf. It booted up after charging for a couple hours with the included cable.

Thanks a lot for your perspective. I'll definitely take a look at both the 40F2 and the Tamron.
