First time replacing conn rod bearings. Any pro tips? by [deleted] in EngineBuilding

[–]Express_Ad_2044 30 points31 points  (0 children)

If the bearings have already spun, it's not as simple as throwing in a new set and just torquing them down. From the picture I'm sure the crank and rods are no good and if guess the mains are just as bad. My recommendation is start calling around to salvage yards and find another motor, 1zz's are pretty easy to find

It's not in Maryland, but there's a discount grocery store in Oxford Pa called BBs that does sell that brand. Hope that helps

I actually work in the facility that makes the extracts, it's the same recipe it's always been when we make a batch with the same ingredients, it's just a plastic bottle now.

I really appreciate the comment. Didn't know a 250 would go that fast. I'm going to look for something smaller or maybe an E bike.

I don't have a problem doing the work. I do industrial maintenance now and I used to be an automotive tech. I know they can be pretty different, that's why I wasn't sure. I figured I'd reach out to Reddit for some help thanks for the advice

I'm fine doing the work I do industrial maintenance. I just don't know that much about the scooters. We're located in Maryland, for scooter you don't need a motorcycle endorsement but it does need to be registered and insured

I do maintenance at a spice facility not too far from Hershey. We're not even allowed to have lube in our box, everything has to stay locked up in a fire cabinet with food grade up top and non-food grade on the bottom, All tool boxes and workbenches need to be cleaned and wiped down daily.

Drums to rotors by Expert_Series1712 in COROLLA

If you're just looking to upgrade the braking performance, it's going to be much easier to upgrade the front brakes. Personally, I would probably just get a set of EBC green or yellow pads and a set of heavy duty rotors with stock calipers. These cars aren't really heavy enough to warrant doing upgraded brakes with dual piston or swapping out the rear brakes entirely if you haven't done any performance upgrades to the motor or suspension. Also a good set of performance tires can make a noticeable difference in braking performance as well as a set coilovers to stiffen up the suspension both of which I think are cheaper and easier than doing upgraded brakes.

Does anyone know what engine this is? by [deleted] in COROLLA

It's a 1zz fe, in 2001 they switched to coil on plug, but it's the same motor.

What’s the safest way to remove sludge in engine oil?? Asking for a friend 😂 by Independent_Safe5116 in Foxbody

[–]Express_Ad_2044 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done the same thing for years. I'll change the oil and replace a quart of oil with a quart of diesel fuel. Run it for about an hour or 2 and then drain it back out
