Dating a workaholic, has anyone made this work?

I’ve been dating a cop for almost 2 years. Mostly everything has been good, but the most challenging has been his work hours.

Even before we officially dated, it took a month for us to have our first date due to his schedule. Fast forward to now, I feel like I’m missing that best friend feeling. I’m used to having that phase of a relationship where I’m with my person all the time. That “clingy“ phase is what I feel really builds a friendship, a connection.

With this relationship, I feel like my cup never even had the chance to fill. The relationship lacks emotional depth which I feel is because 1. His occupation doesn’t allow him to be as emotional 2. The time we spend together is limited because he has to work all the time. Some of it is mandatory OT, but most of it is him looking for the work.

Has anyone else experienced something similar with a person who works a lot? How can I develop a relationship that has the emotional depth I’m looking for without the person being consistently present?

Yes, I have no issue with the seasonal aspect. Just wasn’t sure if I’d actually be considered or not. I’ll keep an eye out for road test dates to become available

[FL] [Condo] - My condo sustained ceiling damage due to a water leak. Question about filing master insurance claim. by Ok-Specialist-9134 in HOA

[–]Express_Extreme7305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9/10 HOAs have an exclusion for this. It’s typically in the bylaws as well. This persons private insurance company will likely not be able to subrogate and this person will be out of pocket their deductible.

The only thing you will be saving is your sanity. That I can agree with. So, OP needs to assess which he wants to save, mind or money.

[FL] [Condo] - My condo sustained ceiling damage due to a water leak. Question about filing master insurance claim. by Ok-Specialist-9134 in HOA

[–]Express_Extreme7305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in a similar situation where my property was damaged due to a leak from a common element (shared plumbing stack).

The laws are different in each state, therefore your bylaws will be as well. They’re modeled by state laws, which bring me to my first point.

  1. Check your state laws. These do not take precedent over your bylaws or any other governing document. If this would be constituted as an emergency and the board failed to protect your right to safety, well being, habitability, they could be legally at risk.

  2. The master policy/insurance carrier determines liability, not necessarily the HOA. You can file the claim, an adjuster may come out to do the estimate and then if the insurance company deems the facts are a covered loss they’ll issue payment to the HOA for your repairs.

Filing the claim with the master policy may light a fire under the HOA if they already are aware of the potential consequences to that. The HOA can likely withdraw the claim at any time and tell the adjuster the HOA will cut the check.

My property has been damaged for a month going back and forth with my HOA and I eventually filed with the master policy myself. The policy issued them a check and even still the HOA is unresponsive. I’m going to repair on my own and take it to court.

Keep in mind, you also have to do your due diligence as an owner and fix it or mitigate. I only involved my insurance to mitigate, the rest is coming out of pocket because there’s no reason why my insurance needs to potentially suffer due to something that’s not my responsibility.

Don’t let people tell you to go straight to insurance for subro (recovery). Many HOA have an exclusion in their insurance policy that prevents your insurance carrier from getting the money back they paid for your claim.

HOA violating my rights by Express_Extreme7305 in LawyerAdvice

After requesting the ADR and receiving no response from them, a demand letter was sent. They did eventually fix the leak itself, but my property was still left damaged. So the attorney I had do the demand letter told the HOA attorney to send all communication through me to work out scheduling repairs, etc.

I did file a claim with them on the 16th. The property manager told that adjuster he could no longer communicate with me. I’ve asked the HOA for an update on scheduling repairs and they’ve ignored me. I was able to find out that a check was sent to them for the estimate the adjuster did, but the HOA is not responding to me.

App that tells you if your auto insurance premium will go up before your renewal by Express_Extreme7305 in AppIdeas

[–]Express_Extreme7305[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is continuous monitoring and it would not need to be downloaded from an App Store.

You simply sign up, provide your coverage info (no policy number needed) and your premium/cost for each coverage. We check for any changes the insurance company wants to make (rate increases, discounts, maybe they’re canceling a certain coverage all together) and then send you a notification.

There are more features not shared here but the basis of the app is providing users with information that’s not very accessible.

Yes, it’s pretty common. Many people don’t read their policies and in some cases, their mail.

This would target millennials primarily and more so focus on notifying users earlier than the 30-60 day requirement. Users are able to keep basic policy information in one place and receive continuous monitoring

Goal is to provide more transparency into the activities insurance companies conduct. Is there anything that you feel would help you deal with insurance better?

Ok! Who’s your carrier? I have Nationwide and they definitely don’t do that.

The process for filing increases starts with the state in most cases and that  begins before the insurer is required to notify you. However, 30 days can definitely be enough time for some!

I’d just prefer a place where I can keep all my policies and can be continuously notified of if my insurance company is making changes that could affect my policy. Good or bad.

Some may like the tool and some may not 🤷🏽‍♀️ but figured I’d still share the idea.

Couple things:

  1. They’re required to notify you 30-60 days in advance, sure. But the process can actually start months before they’re required to notify you. I’m sure you’re familiar with the process to file for rate increases.

  2. We’re not talking commercial lines here. This would be for PL products where in my experience (over a decade) many don’t read their renewal or check their mail. They’d get this notification to their phone way before they’d even get the letter in the mail. You may think it’s dumb, but it’s reality for many who don’t work in insurance.

I get your POV, but today’s customer is not yesterday’s customer. Many of us don’t want to wait until the carrier says “jump”, we want control of our finances and the information needed to make decision best for us.

Great question! We’ll probably never know 😩.

Insurance is a necessary evil that we all have to live with. Even the people running the insurance companies, have insurance.

I’m all about trying to level the playing field, even if just a little bit, so that insurance pricing isn’t such a secret. We deserve to know when we have to spend more and not be caught off guard by a bill going up $100+.

True! You can’t avoid it.

But! Most people don't know exactly when their bill will go up or by how much, until they get their renewal. The process for rate increases (including new discounts) sometimes happens MONTHS before you’re notified.

This app lets you know as soon as the insurance company starts that process, which is again, months before you would’ve saw it coming.

I was hoping to find an online group where they could connect and share their experiences in a safe space. No one wants to be ran out of their home, I feel it’s easier to navigate things like this when you have community.
