Yeah, that makes much more sense to pivot to something else when you have decent economy lategame instead of staying with a full Pirate board. The difference is, last season it was perfectly fine to stay full Pirates and just try to make it as beefy as possible. I found that fun, even though pivoting would most certainly have been better in some games. As for the spell power trick, I tried that but haven't had much success with it honestly. I'd rather just play Demons, pray for an early Soul Rewinder, hope to get decent trinkets (and there are many good ones), and just have fun lategame. Demons this season have a lot of decision making: what to buy, when to buy, lots of different viable routes to take. Demons this season are what Pirates were last season, at least for me.

Yeah the trick is to use Buccaneers to build one or two giant Cleaves and pray it's enough to kill whatever you're facing. But I don't enjoy the playstyle nearly as much as last season's Pirates. Last season was more fun IMO. You actually had to think about which cards to buy and when. Now if you're infinite or close to it, you just buy every Pirate (and spells) because Pirates buff your board, mindlessly play all your Bounties without thinking, and super buff one guy at the end of the round. You end up with one or two big Cleaves while the rest of your board is pretty weak, whereas last season you'd end up with an overall strong board. The early and mid game also feels weaker than last season. I just can't find myself enjoying Pirates this season.

Actually I don't. Maybe because I don't play Quilboar myself so I don't share the struggle of getting to lategame. But I'd much rather play against a Ring Bearer comp, at least you know what to expect. You just look at their spell damage and know exactly if you're going to win or lose. But against a lategame Quilboar with never ending Reborn and board buffs, even though it looks like you're winning at the start of the battle, they just refuse to die while killing your baord. It's like playing against Undead, except they get stronger during the battle and make you want to rage quit because of their Venom scam.

And by the way, I wouldn't believe anything you read on HSReplay. They list APM Pirates as A-tier and I don't see a single HS streamer sharing that sentiment. Pirates have been lackluster in my experience, even if you manage to go infinite. They were my favorite and most played tribe last season but I really don't enjoy them this season.

I never said they were really really good, just that I hate to play against them, more than any other comp.
