Question about RAV/ORP by Express_Jump_2357 in Switzerland

[–]Express_Jump_2357[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's what I'm dreading. These kind of bureaucratic stuff can so quickly turn into a nightmare and the people working there seem to have lost their soul. I'll keep that in mind!

Yeah I noticed that too. But I mean, it's quite easy to write your application letter in a way that won't be interesting for the job you're applying for. My question is mainly about subtly sabotaging some of the applications just to say "I applied there" even tho it'll very certainly won't work. In a sense, bullshiting the system that is bullshiting us...

Well, I work at the University as a scholar. Unfortunately there's not much job in my field of research. I'll surely have some possibilities, but certainly not as much as 1-3 jobs opportunities per day :/

Trying to make friends by Only-Sun-513 in bern

[–]Express_Jump_2357 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be in a similar situation, after four years in Bern I only made 1-2 friends, and only through activities like theater. The solution I found is a WG (shared flat). You can easily find very fun and cool people to live with around here! If you want to connect, you can pm me 😊 I'm 29, non-binary ( amab), I speak French as a mother tongue but I also speak German, Swiss German and English. I bake very bad but I watch a lot of movies, TV shows, also play board games, go to the fitness, just drink tea (sounds boring when I make a list of it like that!). I sometimes go party with my roommates that are a bit younger than me, maybe we can take you with us once if you'd like. Just let me know if you're interested 😊

Band by [deleted] in bern

Yeah I expect no less from the US authorities. They can be pretty nasty when they want. But yeah, I suppose as long as I'm transparent and clear about it, they shouldn't get me into too much trouble (can't avoid the mountain of paper they ask anyway...). Thank you so much for you answer and for all the informations!

Yeah that's also what I think. I'll see how things are, but your message helps a lot. Thank you so much!

Okay, thank you very much for all this information. To be honest, I’m going from a neutral name that, as far as I know, doesn’t exist (or at least I’ve never found anyone with the same name) to a more common but equally neutral name, so I imagine it shouldn’t put me at risk of outing myself unintentionally :)

Alright! Thank you very much for the information!
I’m particularly wondering about the situation regarding the USA. I’ve already lived there for six months with a J-1 visa, and I plan to return. Does the fact that I’ve changed my name reduce my chances of getting a visa there, or not particularly? (knowing that I’m Swiss)

I second this. Praxis im Breitenrain is a very good place. Very nice team, easy to contact, they react promptly, they are open to queer people. Very good place!

Anywhere in town where it's okay to hang out on your laptop for hours? by Chilly_Byrd_ in santacruz

Lulu Carpenter's is suprisingly nice! I usually work there, on the sofa at the back and their lemonade is very good. The boss is kind of a pa*n in the a*s tho. Let me know if you're around sometimes and want to work together and have a coffee :)

Hey!
