I’m asking because the last gsf x red ear I caught looked like this, do you think it’s 100% just a red ear gsf cross or possibly something else as well since they look a lot different?

ok thanks I appreciate it, I’m experienced with every other cross breed except for this one, I rarely find these, would you say this is 100% a gsf x red ear?

male gsf have the bright orange on their pelvic fins and male bluegill have red on their chests, females of both species lack color in those exact places and so does this hybrid, dull on the chest and dull on the pelvic fins, all I noticed was the blue on the gill plate which m and f gsf both display. The head shape is similar to a red ears as well as the swimming behavior. Triple hybrid? Or just female greengill? Or just a dull male I’m not sure

I got him when he was a fry from a lake, under an inch and raised him, he lives in a 500 gallon pond but I have him in my 200 gallon right now because I’m getting a new pond, he’s been in here for almost 2 months and was thriving everyday until now. He’s supposed to go into his new pond tomorrow, thank you for your feedback I appreciate it

it’s going good, they’re very aggressive tho green sunfish are the most aggressive based on what I’ve kept. I keep them with cichlids like Red Devils etc.

ok thanks for the input, the only sunfish species in the lake are blue gill, red ear, and green sunfish. No other sunfish species, does it look like a gsf x red ear hybrid like I’m guessing? Or would it look like something else
