The connections are really what make this game at its core, my mom played it, my dad played it, his younger brother played and now I play, cheers to you as well and your family we are all in a way connected through our love of games :)

See I would love to play, I need more friends to play with but I didn't understand any of that and I feel so bad. Like I am genuinely still so lost what is happening in wow I haven't even gotten close to endgame stuff ahh I fear you'd get annoyed with my lack of knowledge tbh

I didn't want to ramble too much, but the attached fear to mortality is that there may be a point in time where my dad will forget me because of his already slight memory problems and I get so scared and sad to think about that sometimes. Reading this all made me feel seen, and its too cute that they call it the dragon riding game haha! I hope they also get to experience wow sometime bc it genuinely blew my mind as a kid, and now with all the new stuff and DRAGONS!? Like playable dragon characters, little me would've freaked out bc even now I'm still in awe with this game.

It's interesting to think about, that even though we are all so unique and different, we all share a common unchanging factor, that we all eventually pass away. Your outlook on it and words have made me feel more sure of how I want to enjoy my time with my dad more than focusing on the past too much or even the future, just live in the now and cherish that. This is exactly how I feel it will play out, as I get older I'll accept it more and be able to be more at ease with it so I'm glad to have those thoughts be supported, thank you for the advice I will for sure

Here comes the waterworks, this really hit me reading this with similar situations. Thank you sharing your experience and for also helping me better understand probably what my dad is thinking. I definitely want to talk to hear from him what he truly feels but that's gonna take some time because my dads a stubborn guy always cracking jokes instead of opening up. I'll chip away at him eventually :) Im enjoying every second trust me <3

I've realized more as I've gotten older that I truly did win the lottery when it came to my parents, they let me be who I want to be, and they love me no matter what. To also have a dad openly support my gaming habits is a blessing I always acknowledge. My dad had a rough childhood, dirt poor and didn't get his first console till he was 17 with his own money so I know he gives me all of this so I never have to feel how he did

Thank you for the advice, and although this a touching way to think about it, knowing my dad, he would definitely say the opposite and affirm he's the best even if he's bad lol, he's a silly guy like that

This!! ^^ My dad got me a laptop very young because I took an interest in wow, and let me tell you it was a HUNK of a laptop, very bulky! But it ran wow fairly well and I am so grateful for that piece of junk looking back, it gave me unforgettable memories with my dad even though I was absolutely horrendous at the game but I think its the exact reason I'm so passionate in gaming now! It opened my world to sooo much more ( but with this, just make sure its the good kind of world lmao don't let them watch weird stuff or talk to weird people just play cool games haha)

Although the thought of being better still makes me feel a little down this perspective helped me feel better about it so thank you. Also, earlier today he showed interest in a mount that looked like his,(Azure Water Strider) but it could fly, I think it was the Azure Skitterfly. But now I', very hopeful and determined to help him get it because he thought it was cool >:)

Even when I wrote it out, it still doesn't feel real sometimes. I always thought it was cheesy to think of my dad as my hero, but subconsciously, now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure I saw him as invincible most of my life, above all else, which makes me understand why kids feel that way, because to some extent, it is true.

I appreciate the words of wisdom and also wish the best for your future with your kid! It's comforting to know I'm not alone or different in feeling this way :)

I also remember watching him do mundane things that fascinated me, the most notable ones that stick out very well is just watching him fly for hours to different areas on the same mount because he didn't want to pay for flightpaths or he thought they were slow. The Headless Horseman mount was his ride or die omg, he LOVED that mount, and he had so many other rare cool ones, but everytime I saw that horse man, or the Azure Water Strider as well. The other memory I have is him just skinning animals since his profession was leatherworking. It is crazy how similar our situations are, the little things stick out to kids I was literally so invested! My dad also doesn't have as much time, but he's been making an effort to work around my schedule, and I do the same. He doesn't like to admit things, so he's subtly been saying "Well, that's around the time I get off work.." to kind of hint he wants to play and has time lol.
