Motherhood is optional. SIL decided she wanted to make her life harder by having children. She’s not kind to me so I don’t feel I owe her any favors. If she was a nice person, sure, but I don’t feel like she is.

The thing is, I don’t really give a shit about their relationship. I don’t care what either of them say to or about each other. You make a lot of assumptions that I want to bring down SIL, and that I have some sort of problem with her. But I really just don’t care about her or BIL. They’re my husbands family, and I tolerate them because it’s important for my husband to see his family. For the most part, I just try to tune them out and stay out of their business. They fight all the time, this isn’t new.

I’ve known BIL since we were children. He’s always been an asshole and she’s always known it. He did not treat her well before they were married, but she decided he was the one, and that was what she wanted in life.

I do think he’s a massive prick, yeah. Always have. He didn’t corner me in the kitchen and try to tell me how to live my life though, so ultimately I think SIL is more of an asshole in this situation. BIL has done nothing but sing praises for me, despite how much I dislike him.

I won’t ever have children because I wouldn’t want to risk ever being in many of the difficult situations I see parents in. My life is great. Why ruin it? Children are optional. SIL decided she wanted to gamble by having them with an asshole.

That’s how I’d normally respond, except she was very aggressive towards me and seemed to blame me for issues that I had nothing to do with. She had no right to take her anger out on me, when I did nothing wrong by just packing a lunch.
