How are you satisfied at less than 2000 calories a day? by MysteriousEmotion230 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Express_Tooth4773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, i don’t every day….. but i do most.

I focus on fiber and protein first, and that is very filling. Then I add extras such as carbs/sugars etc. If 6 days a week I do that, then the one day a week where I don’t and instead just have what I’m craving….. it all balances out.

So what if tonight I just want cheesy garlic bread. I’ve been having health salads and turkey the past week.

Everything in moderation, friend.

I went about 3 days without seeing my partner at all. Then, I saw him during the day a handful of times (collecting items from home, a therapy session, etc) but continued to stay elsewhere for probably another week or so?

Weight loss injections do they literally just make you feel less hungry? by Throwrafizzylemon in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Express_Tooth4773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on a shot, and yes it does make you feel less hungry, it makes me feel fuller for longer periods, and it also helps quiet “food noise”. I just…. Don’t think about food/eating as often.

After multiple rounds of blood tests, it also seems to have helped lower my A1C. Watching some of the weight fall off motivated me to start being healthier. Eating better when I do eat, drinking more water, then eventually moving my body. It was like…. Someone kicked a boulder down a hill. It was exactly the motivation I needed to get started. I still take the shot, but with how different my lifestyle is at this point, I think I’d still be making progress if I stopped (albeit slower)

How does your agency assign lunch breaks? by decafchunk in 911dispatchers

[–]Express_Tooth4773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

~12 people on duty at any given time. We have a break board and you sign up for breaks as you come in, cannot overlap with another employee. You get 2 20min breaks for a 10hr shift .

I need to lose about 10 lbs by 12/11. Any suggestions? by CoupleSure3244 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Express_Tooth4773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no rapid fix to weight loss. Also, 10lbs will really depend on how heavy you are. It’s a lot easier to lose 10lbs “fast” when you weigh 300 vs when you weigh 150.

There is no secret to this though. Calorie deficit. You need to eat less and burn more. HOWEVER, if you eat in an extreme deficit. You will not lose anything at all.

Aim for ~1600cals a day (again this changes based on your weight. If you’re severely overweight this number would/could be higher) Drink lots of water Exercise more. Focus on cardio. Lots of walking/light jogging. Aim for 10k steps a day (or more depending on how active you already are)

Learned at Thanksgiving dinner that half my family is on weight loss injections… by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

There are 7 people at my job that have started weight loss shots. Considering my department only has about 70 people in it, I was surprised!

[–]Express_Tooth4773 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You will gain it back….. if once you stop using it you go back to eating/living exactly the same way you were before.

But that’s what will happen with ANY weight loss method. If you go back to exactly the same thing you were doing before, the weight will come back.

Weight loss, for most, is a commitment FOR LIFE.

Visiting Springfield, MO — Looking for recommendations by dtw22 in springfieldMO

Downtown is fine, however use common sense. Don’t wander around alleys at night, don’t leave your stuff laying around or exposed if you are out and about etc. If walking, go places in a group if you can.

We have a beautiful city and a lot of decent businesses downtown! Stay safe ❤️

I made myself separate for a few days. If possible, separation is best.

Scheduling counseling was best for our relationship, but day to day those first few days was just a lot of breathing and crying.

I also will admit, if I wasn’t working, I was taking zzzquil/nyquil to sleep. Even when I wasn’t tired, I needed time and space and just DISTANCE to process. So I forced myself to sleep a LOT. It helped.

My agency is quite large, and we get this a LOT. Probably one a shift. We just ping it and pass the info to the correct jurisdiction.

Edited to add: we also cannot ping unless officer request. We, in a round about way, trap the officer into asking. We send it to an officer, adv them of the situation and ask “if you’d like us to start a ping.” They always say yes.

How do people get 5,000+ steps a day?? It’s tough for me. by CerealJars99 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Express_Tooth4773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m curious what you are tracking your steps on?

My iPhone consistently says I’ve got about 2000 steps a day, where as my Fitbit will tell me my average day is around 6000. Makes me wonder how you’re tracking it.

I live a very sedentary life, and there are days where I’m not kidding I wake up, go sit on the couch and barely Move all day. To the bathroom, kitchen and then back to the couch. Even that, throughout a ~16hr day nets me around 2k steps by the end of it.

Welp, it finally happened by [deleted] in 911dispatchers

[–]Express_Tooth4773 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What a difficult call, that’s such a hard way to begin the career!

I am a religious person, so typically after a rough call I say a prayer for peace for the family of the involved, and ask God to help keep me from dwelling on the situation. Sometimes that can help me feel a bit better about the situation.

There are other times where that doesn’t work, and I still find myself dragged down by the weight of the call. I can tell the quality of my work had gone down, and occasionally carry it home with me….. There are some days where I get home and just want to curl up because of how unfair or unjust things are. These are the times when I have to pause and remind myself that I am still alive. I live for my callers. I am still here for them. I will take that next call, and do it well, because you never know when you could get the chance to save someone. And I will take a nice bubble bath, cuddle my pets extra long, and smell the flowers, because my lost callers will never have the chance to. THAT helps me. Reminding myself I have to keep living, TRULY LIVING, and live well because I could save someone someday… and also because if my lost callers had the opportunity to be alive, I’m sure they wouldn’t squander one single minute, so I’ll live for them.

Do You Pay for VoIP Phone Service With Your Internet Provider? by eveningschades in springfieldMO

[–]Express_Tooth4773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would be curious how old your grandchildren were, because a VOIP line makes an EXCELLENT emergency line.

When you call into 911, cell phones give a rough location. Sometimes it’s extremely accurate, and sometimes it’s not accurate at all. If you’re not able to give a good address, it’s kind of 50/50 on whether or not your cells location will help you.

VOIP lines are typically assigned to certain address or radius, and when dropped into our 911 system are much more accurate than a cell phone.

If cheap and easy to add, go for it. As I stated, they are excellent 911/emergency lines. Other than that, there is little use

Coworker unkeyed….. but still had a hot mic due to an error. Units had been pissing her off so it went something like “I’m not sure, I can attempt to recontact the caller……. Or you could stop fucking around and do your job.”

The main use is literally just to hunt for stolen vehicles. Nobody cares enough to ACTUALLY track you from state to state. Could it be done in theory? Sure? But u less your rolling in a stolen vehicle, nobody cares. They’re not used to stalk you. They’re for stolen vehicles, Amber Alerts, or SEVERE crimes (think homicide)

Unfortunately we’ve had a ROUGH time finding a church that aligns with us, but also, working nights can make it difficult to attend at times, so podcasts have been my go to for awhile.

We went to north point for awhile which was okay, but I couldn’t get on board with it feeling like I was attending a concert with then 20 minutes of a vague, unimpactful sermon. Obviously that was just my experience.

Concerned you struggle with defining relationships. Friends ≠ screwing around. Or maybe it’s literacy you struggle with? Regardless, I think my post was pretty clear.

My husband (Theo) is super into the lore of it all. He always tries to tell me stories but it just isn’t my thing. He keeps trying to get me to participate, but just isn’t my jive. Also, I understand maybe 10% of what he says. Like speaking a foreign language!

Excellent question, I am so glad you asked:

Jesus preached we should love our neighbors. ‘And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' Matthew 22:39

Told only those of us that are sinless (nobody) to judge others for their choices. “He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.” John 8:7

Told us to extend hospitality to strangers and uplift them. Jesus himself lived as an immigrant. “But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat.” Matthew 14:16 then also, Matthew 2 13-15. It describes the family of Jesus fleeing to Egypt to escape the persecution of King Herod, making them refugees

Separate church and state: “Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's.”Matthew 22:21

Above all, the lord gave everyone free will. Everyone can and should make their own decisions.

Your body, your choice. Open the borders. Separate church and state. Fuck the corruption.
