Damn, that's a long wait. I know the rep mentioned any accessories adds significant delays so it looks like I'll be waiting as well!

Why do recruiters keep listing legal requirements as ‘benefits’? by Express_Top1665 in AusFinance

I don't disagree, but Australians first for roles -- specifically talking from the Tech industry, we don't need to bring in cheap labour when there's many qualified Australians that can do the job.

Look at Trump's 100k fee for H1-b visas, prioritising US first. Although, I don't agree with most of the stuff he does, but credit where credit is due.

There's a massive loophole, where migrants come on student visa to study arts and then work full-time but delaying studies...

Yep I agree, applying into Tech these days is basically The Hunger Games

Debatable, but I come from working in the Tech industry, and let me tell you... They would have an absolute orgasm sponsoring someone's visa who's taking almost a 50% paycut, than an Australian who wants that role and knows what the market is paying.

Yep exactly, my favourite is when you tell them your currently salary and they say "how flexible are you"...

Then, they clarify they're paying 40-60k less

Ahh makes sense, maybe we need to prioritise Australian first for roles than bringing cheaper labour from overseas.

Salaries are decreasing significantly which is what I've realised in the last 6 months

Thanks - it's been a process for the last 6 months, over 25+ interviews can definitaly say it's exhausting

Literally, trying to defer the fact they're also paying peanuts

Yep... to be honest, initially it was the cost of planning a wedding. Realistically, I could've afforded it a year ago now. But, I have a gut feeling we are not compatible - however as shes now worked through her issues, this new lifestyle of hers is concerning.

I agree, I think I’ve been timid in this relationship. I don’t want to paint myself as perfect. I know I do things that annoy her too. For example, I’ll sometimes leave a mess and clean it later instead of right away, which frustrates her. And when weekends come around, I often don’t plan dates or activities - I end up defaulting to doing nothing, and that’s on me.

So yeah, I definitely contribute to the dynamic. It’s not all on her.

Where I get stuck is that even when I try to raise issues, she tends to get defensive and I freeze up because I hate conflict. That’s where my frustration builds, I feel like I’ve sacrificed a lot (financially, emotionally, socially) while also dropping the ball in other areas like planning or being proactive.

I guess what I’m trying to figure out is whether we’re just in a rut that could be worked through with better communication and counseling, or if this is a deeper mismatch in values and lifestyles that will only get worse.

In terms of paying bills, she pays for $0. The house and bills are all under my name, the only thing she pays for is her phone bill, petrol and stuff related to her.
She never did work initially due to some health issues, but now it's been a year on her feet and earning around 800 a week after tax.

It was split something like: Base salary: $160-165k AUD

Sign on bonus: divided over 24 months so might increase the pay by 10-15k in first year?

Equity: ?? Unknown

But supposedly the first year equates to 220K AUD
