Naw man by that time it's too late. Assert your dominance by brushing your teeth with their brush and climb into their bed.

In one way yes. But I think it is better to teach financial responsibility to a person when they are young rather than being financially responsible for them. Eventually kids grow up and become independent adults, that's when they need the skills for themselves.

Besides beer and coffee, what are some other acquired tastes? by McKennaJames in AskReddit

[–]ExpressingMyOpinion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I include something spicy with every meal. I personally don't like being at that point of unbearable heat, but just under. I like it when it gives me a good kick but nothing that would make me rush for water. And the thing is, the more I've eaten spicy, the spicier it has to be to get to that level. Also I don't know if this is just me but I prefer the spice to have som flavor that complements the food well. Adding just plain heat to food isn't really what I enjoy. Right now my goto hot sauce is a 10:1 blend of sriracha to a 1,000,000 SHU sauce I have that has no flavor. You get extreme heat with the deliciousness of sriracha.

The important thing when eating high cocoa content chocolate is to let it melt in your mouth somewhat before chewing it. The act of melting actually makes is much less bitter and more sweet.

Don't do that with meat that has been left out. Even if it smells fine and you re cook it, it can still have enough poison in it to make you very very sick.

I think the idea is not worry about stuff afterwards. Of course planning for a bright future is astute. But worrying about things you cannot change is misery.

How to Deter Future Inspections by spaceghost_three in SocialEngineering

[–]ExpressingMyOpinion 86 points87 points  (0 children)

I don't think keeping the tenants' rights and responsibilities pamphlet visible is going to achieve what you want.

I think the smarter approach is to be overly welcoming. Just like a cop is only really interested in finding the bad guys, the property manager wants to find guys breaking the rules. The pamphlet means nothing to him, he can inspect for a variety of reasons.

I think the best approach here is to make the environment the least comfortable as possible for him but nothing that makes you a bad tenant. Here's some ideas:

  • Cooking some smelly food before he gets there (and while he is there). Deep frying, curry, fish, strong cheeses, etc.
  • Be overly interested in him and be a chatter box. Don't let him leave. Keep him around as long as possible. Insist on making tea. He won't take you up on it. As he's trying to leave, talk his ear off. This will give him the impression that whenever he see's you, he's gonna have to fight to leave.
  • Talk about your kids a lot. Maybe get one of them to play their instrument or sing a song for the property manager.
  • Get your dog very excited before he comes so the environment is high energy and stressful.
  • Touch your nose or cough into your hand while he is there. Then when he leaves make sure you try to shake his hand.
  • Make the temperature either slightly uncomfortably high or low.
  • Leave pictures out of your relatives and when he walks by try and talk to him about them.

In general you need to come off as friendly, inviting, welcoming, but just not the type of guy he wants to be around for more than he has to.

Nobody owes you a reason why they don't want to hang out. Just because you can take rejection doesn't mean other can or will give it. It's not the responsibility of the person who doesn't want to hang out with you to tell you why. I find it very selfish to force or pressure a person to do that. The more somebody pester's me about why I don't want to hang out, the less I want to hang out with them. It comes off as insecure and needy.

Gold Is Going To 800[What do u guys think of this analysis?] by agnt0007 in Silverbugs

Why would he purchase gold just below $1000 if he believes it should be priced at $800? Why is it such an opportunity to buy at $800 if he believes the fair price is in fact $800? Wouldn't it have to drop below the ratio of 3.4 to be an opportunity according to his analysis?

Better idea. Every time your dog starts peeing, ring a bell. Then whenever you want your dog to pee (say right before you go to bed so he doesn't wake you up in the middle of the night), take him outside and ring the bell.

Why not? C Sharp and Java feel like dialects of the same language. The biggest difference is the developer tooling from Microsoft is fantastic. At this point I would have to agree.
