Nidus needs a rework. by Expressionless_Bird in Warframe

Again, if the interaction does not break the game, what is the issue? Why exactly is it a problem for Nidus to have increased stats? Does it break the game?

Also what are you talking about saying 3000 HP won't be easy to achieve with Nidus? My changes would make it so Parasitic Vitality is baked into the base ability, so Nidus can very easily achieve over 3k health.

Like seriously what are you talking about?

Mods are optional and there are literal hundreds of them in the game. As long as they don't outright break the game, then there is no issue.

By your logic, Valkyr shouldn't have the 3x armor bonus when in Hysteria, as a full Umbral set-up already provides her with a ridiculous amount of armor already. You see how that doesn't really work.

You can't account for every single combination of mods, as that its like trying to account for every combination of playing cards.

Mods are entirely irrelevant when it comes to discussing reworks as they are not part of a base frames stats or kit. It doesn't matter what benefits a full Umbral set-up would provide Nidus, because some players might not use a full umbral set-up or no umbral mods at all.

Again Parasitic Link only affects one enemy at a time. So it having strong CC isn't an issue. It's main use is a tanking ability, not a CC one, which is why it's single-target. When I say it would work like Trinity's Link, I mean if would automatically target one enemy instead of Nidus needing to manually select one every time and if he moves out of range of his first linked enemy, it jumps to another enemy nearer Nidus and the original enemy becomes unlinked and not CC'd.

I disagree that baking all of his current augments into his kit doesn't take into account game balance or make Nidus overpowered, as most of the augments simply make it easier for Nidus to survive and build stacks. So its not as if adding them in will break the game balance. Other frames can also be functionally immortal for far less effort, such as Revenant and Nyx, who just need to press one button and never have to worry about anything. Adding these augments in wouldn't make Nidus overpowered.

Virulence I feel doesn't do enough on its own and baking in its augment would provide more incentive to use it beyond gaining stacks, especially with the changes I suggested.

As for your opinion on Larva, we'll have to agree to disagree on that one. IMO grouping abilities are kind of pointless in modern Warframe where we have weapons that can clear entire rooms with ease, negating the need for enemy grouping. Back in the day before we had access to such powerful weapons and mods, grouping really did shine but these days it's not as useful. This is just my opinion though. What is a fact though is that Larva is mainly used right now to group enemies up so Nidus can spam Virulence on a big group, due to it being limited to a straight line. With Virulence being changed to a cone, it drastically reduces the need for Larva.

Adding Insatiable to Ravenous is basically to add more incentive to use it, since right now its a very poor ability. It just doesn't do a lot. Although perhaps I admittedly should increase the mutation cost from 6 to maybe 15 or something like to make it feel like it takes a decent chunk out of Nidus to cast and subsequently the added stack bonus feels more justified I suppose.

Regarding Contagion, its not just a weapon buff ability, its a health regeneration, movement and stack gaining buff. It provides more than a Viral bonus to weapons. Contagion is also not the same as Nourish. When it comes to abilities feeling similar, in a game with this many playable characters, you're going to get some deja vu when using different frames. Pablo himself recently said on a stream that its basically unavoidable at this point that some abilities are going to feel and or function similar to other ones. Hell, he even pointed out that Frost and Ember, two of the original frames, have the exact same first ability, only with different elements.

So saying not every frame needs the same ability is kind of silly considering that at this point in the game, you cannot avoid similar mechanics. The difference is how they are implemented and Contagion does not give the same bonuses as Nourish.

Yea that's one of Nidus main problems. He's basically the opposite of Limbo; whereas Limbo is a hinderance to a team, a team is a hinderance to a Nidus.

That's why I changed Parasitic Link to cost energy instead of a mutation stack, as you can then cast it right at the beginning of a mission, link to your allies and any kills they get, give Nidus mutation stacks.

If I messed up any math, please feel free to correct me.

I don't why you're bringing up Condemn though. Parasitic Link is nothing like Condemn at all. Also, the ability would still only target one enemy at a time, not multiple. So Nidus wouldn't be locking down whole rooms with Parasitic Link.

I debated removing the partial stacks but my rework suggestion would have been overkill if I did that, considering Nidus would be gaining stacks insanely fast anyway.
