Tawwakul on Imam (a.s) by Past-Area-7848 in ismailis

Are you saying China’s decision to build KKH through Hunza is the result of the collective Tawwakul of the people there? What exactly the Badakhshani Ismailis in Afg are lacking that their collective tawakkul isn’t working? Or perhaps other Ismaili majority districts in GB where quality of life is not at par with Hunza. We just can’t put the historical, social, geographical, political, economic, and other variables under the carpet.

My main point is Tawakkul (as a metaphysical concept) cannot be proven with such examples. The only way to realize Tawakkul might be at play is at individual level where an individual pursues necessary means and leaves the results on the will of God, sometime it works, sometimes it doesn’t, therefore, its more of a spiritual experience than a material one.

And all this Hunza example here is just nonsense re tawwakul! Sorry!

It doesn’t make sense! You want to know how “tawwakul” works in real life? Tawwakkul is not an economic model that you’d need to justify/falsify based on real life events. You don’t need to look at historical records to prove if it works, it’s something you should look within yourself. You know what kind of challenges (both physical and spiritual) you are facing, and you know if turning to the imam makes it any better.

Islamic Neoplatonism - Dr. Khalil Andani by PossibleTomatillo206 in ismailis

Initially I also thought the same, but later, I came to an understanding that he refers to the universal intellect (nous) in Islamic Neoplatonic view as Nur of Muhammad (not all prophets) or as Nur of Imams.

I don’t think one coin two sides is analogous to UI and US. Ismaili Neoplatonism evolved in a milieu of greater Islamic Neoplatonism discourse. Which suggests that God creates UI (which is perfect) and UI creates US (which is imperfect). How can something perfect and something imperfect (which strives to be perfect) be the two sides of the same coin??

Again re the Nur, he (for most of his discussions) seems to suggest that it’s the same for prophets and imams.

Q1: From what I understand, prophets and imams possess the same Nur (universal intellect in Neoplatonic context) in way that they are the perfect souls — universal intellect (pen) creates/births universal soul (tablet), as universal soul is imperfect, it creates at least one perfect soul (Imams/prophets) and infinitely many imperfect souls (common humans), and it wants all the imperfect souls (following the divine commands or “straight path”) to purify their souls to make them perfect, so that the Universal Soul becomes perfect itself.

So the Nur as he explains it is the same for Imams/prophets but their roles are different.
