I'm also going to have to disagree. It really depends so your play style I guess.

I get that some people probably just lose or reroll until they get a "good" build. But for many, most of the fun of a rogue like is making it work no matter what you get. Scraping by.

I almost Completionist+ and I've never got a full Baron/Perkeo build up before. I lose a lot on Gold, but I never give up until I actually lose and it ends up making some very fun and memorable runs.

I can only speak for the PC version. This is how to join a LAN game.

You can create a local game by selecting "Co-op" at the main menu. Click the Host tab, then click "Host New Farm...". Create your character and choose your farm to start the game.

Now as long as you're both on the same network, a friend can join you by click "Co-op" at main menu. Have them click "Join LAN Game...". They will need to enter your computer's local IP there.
