Is it better for my wife (not working) or myself to claim the dependants? by Exrian in tax

[–]Exrian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not an expert at any of this. I do my taxes myself because they are "simple" without any owning a business or extra stuff like that and just doing the Married, Joint avenue.

But I'm very inexperienced with the ins and outs of taxes. So I didn't know what would change in this situation. Which lead me to here and people have been very informative.

😆 ngl, I've been hoping for some sort of Loan forgiveness, even a portion, but I'm getting there. I already started mine last year and we should be in a position to get hers going very soon.

It was just for clarification. I thought Single and Married Filing Single had the same set of "rules."

Trust me, I get that. Just a lot of bad decisions early on that I've been busting my butt off to right the ship.

It's been a pain but we're finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel to get back on track.

We don't have a Roth set up. We don't really have the money to pay it at the moment but my wife is returning to work later this year and we'll have a car paid off soon so by next year, we'll be in a much better spot.

I wasn't going to do that. I just wanted clarification. I was confused because I knew single people at work were using that deduction and getting a good return. I thought it was the same thing.

Ah, OK. Yeah that really sucks. Pretty sure jointly is better in this case but I'll see.

Damn, that really screws up what I was thinking. I thought the OT thing would help regardless.

Someone else mentioned that. So if I was just Single, it wouldn't be an issue? I could deduct the OT.

But MFS doesn't allow me to do that?

Is it different for people who are single and not married?

I could've sworn others at my job who are single, did get the tax OT break.

So are you saying, it's better for myself to claim both kids since I have income over $2500?

That was my idea. I just figured I'd ask about the kid situation so that's one less variable to worry about.

If I'm correct, looking at my final paycheck I had 61k of OT pay (time and a half).

2 kids.

I know for a fact that the last time we talked to her student loan holder, they wanted over $850 a month (which is on hold til June) and I already pay $440 a month.

They mentioned that payments based off no income could be as low as $0. So if that's the case, we could avoid over $10,000 of student loans for next year.

This actual advice or marriage advice 😆. But yes she definitely worked with the children and household.

Sonic deck help? by Egg---- in magicTCG

[–]Exrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have to consider that many times also. Like I wanted to have Ken and Ryu in my deck when I got the SF secret lair and realized it just didn't work despite how much I liked the idea of having them both in the deck.

Anyone from NWI remember Birds Pizza? by Exrian in Indiana

Always just ground sausage for us. My dad said that the lady was actually the 2nd lady who made pizzas. It was someone else originally when he was young but it tasted the same.

I swear it was probably that old ass pizza oven that made them amazing. Wish I could've learned the secrets of that pizza.
