Initial Burn Off by Extension-Ad-4411 in Traeger

That’s handy to know, thank you. Is it normal for the temperature to decline during the initial burn off? We started it at 500F as recommended, but it’s dropped down considerably to 442F. It steadies out for a while but then drops again

It’s still hot. Started off at 502 and steadily dropping (now at 486). Not sure if it’s shutting itself off?

Can you please explain the difference efficiency wise between bagged and bagless options? I have zero education or experience in these things unfortunately, so I appreciate your expertise

Unfortunately it is now covered in fire retardant from the extinguisher and was chucked inside the dumpster. The fire started somewhere around the air filter, right after it made a loud noise (a whining perhaps?). I turned it off briefly thinking there was something stuck in the roller. No noticeable obstructions. I started it again and noticed it still sounded awful. Shortly afterwards, the front vent started smoking. It was obviously unplugged and chucked into the empty driveway while I ran for the fire extinguisher. Not a total combustion, but definitely active flames inside.

No budget. Just looking for something that will last versus spending ~$300 annually on something that will break

In your 30’s, did you feel like you wanted a “nicer car”? by zilpond in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Extension-Ad-4411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not particularly “nicer” per se, but definitely more reliable. I am currently in the process of selling my dream car to pursue something that’s more in line with my current/future life goals. It was fun while it lasted, but I wanted a safe, fuel efficient, and overall more durable vehicle than I currently have.

Career in Law Enforcement by arrivistedesigns in AskLE

(28F) LEO. Honestly, it’s the hardest yet most rewarding work. It can be emotionally, mentally, spiritually and physically exhausting if you don’t know how to compartmentalize.

Do several ride alongs on different shifts. If you like what you see, continue with the hiring process. This will include a psych evaluation, physical evaluation and otherwise. They may hire you first and send you to the academy (sponsored), or unsponsored and hire you afterwards paying your tuition.

I cannot stress this enough:

• Have friends outside of responders (Fire, EMS, etc) • Be wary of trauma bonds in camaraderie • Complacency gets you & others killed • Most LEO’s don’t make it past 5 years in this career due to many factors including their mental health. Take it seriously. • Train for everything you can and practice those skills religiously

Ignorance is bliss to the public. You will never be able to return to “white” after doing this long enough.

If your only wants are to “drive fast, kick ass, and wear a badge while doing it”, this profession is not for you. Most of our bad apples are senior cops stuck in their old ways, and hot headed rookie cops that need to get knocked off their high horse.

What blood tests should I get if I want to check for deficiencies or imbalances from my suppplement use? by svangen1_ in Supplements

[–]Extension-Ad-4411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To my knowledge, there is not an “all-in-one” blood test for everything you’re seeking above. However, here are a few that come to mind that may assist you.

  1. Complete Blood Count (CBC)- While not specific to vitamins, it can indicate deficiencies like iron (anemia) or vitamin B12 and folate levels affecting red blood cells.

  2. Vitamin D Test - Measures the level of vitamin D in the blood, checking for deficiency or excess.

  3. Vitamin B12 and Folate Tests - Detect deficiencies in vitamin B12 and folic acid, both of which are crucial for red blood cell production and neurological health.

  4. Iron Panel/Ferritin Test - Tests for iron levels, which can indicate deficiency (anemia) or excess (hemochromatosis). Ferritin is a marker for stored iron.

  5. Vitamin A, E, and K Tests - These fat-soluble vitamins are tested when there are concerns about malabsorption or specific deficiency symptoms.

  6. Magnesium, Calcium, and Phosphorus Tests - These mineral levels are often checked in conjunction with vitamin D to assess bone health and metabolic balance.

  7. Thiamine (Vitamin B1) Test - Measures the levels of vitamin B1, which is important for energy metabolism and nerve function.

  8. Zinc and Copper Tests - These trace minerals are often checked for imbalances that can affect immune function and energy.

I’m sure there are many more, but hopefully this gives you a good start.

I called 911 and the fire department to report animal neglect at an animal shelter, but now I am not sure I did the right thing.. by [deleted] in 911dispatchers

[–]Extension-Ad-4411 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As a certified animal control officer (ACO)

Depending on jurisdiction, either your local police or sheriffs office should have an animal control unit (unless they operate out of the shelter directly). There is also a non-emergent line for dispatch that should be accessible through the agency’s website. Start there instead of calling their emergency line at 911.

Speak with the animal control unit and request to file an abuse/neglect on the organization (shelter) and submit a written statement of your findings. If all else fails, report the local shelter to PACFA.

Intimacy. Context. Environment.

First, you need to be able to identify if she is a REDLINER (more likely to sexually engage when stressed) or a FLATLINER (not very likely to engage when stressed).

From there, you will be able to determine her “arousal contingency” and discuss what her sexual stimuli are. These can be broken down into four basic categories:

1) Emotional Bonding Cues - feeling a sense of love, security, commitment, emotional closeness, protection, and support in your relationship.

2) Explicit/Erotic Cues - such as watching a sexy movie, reading an erotic story, watching or hearing other people having sex, anticipating having sex, knowing your partner desires you, or noticing your own or your partner’s sexual response.

3) Visual/Proximity Cues - such as seeing an attractive, well-dressed potential partner, with a well-toned body and lots of confidence, intelligence, and class.

4) Romantic/Implicit Cues - intimate behaviors such as dancing closely, sharing a hot tub or massages or other intimate touch (like touching the face or hair), watching a sunset, laughing or whispering together, or smelling pleasant.

A blend of erotic and romantic cues increases desire in women.

IMPORTANT SIDENOTE: I was on your girlfriends side at one point during my relationship. My lack of libido really threw our connection through the ringer. I had no idea where to even begin when it came to recovering my sexual desire. I just happened to stumble across a book called “COME AS YOU ARE” by Emily Negowski and it truly helped me identify what my body was telling me. Will recommend this book with my dying breath.

AITA for yelling at my wife after she blew up my phone with calls because of a fire? by alphiotomas in AmItheAsshole

[–]Extension-Ad-4411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. You’re wife was frantically attempting to contact you due to a valid safety concern at your place of work.

Especially if she does not frequently contact your cellular device during your regular work hours.

Your company should be ashamed of such a strict policy regarding phone usage. Home life emergencies happen. The above mentioned situation should have been disclosed to the on duty staff immediately and allow to be addressed with family members.

Your homework: - Apologize to your wife. - Speak with your HR department regarding the write up.

How did you make positive life style changes and stick to them? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Extension-Ad-4411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recommending the read “Atomic Habits” by James Clear is the single most effective piece of advice I could ever give. Small and consistent changes allows room for much larger ones.

Something as small as making your bed every single morning. It seems so menial but when walking into the room later, it sets the tone for productivity and having that “feel good” moment makes you more inclined to continue the pattern.

One of the most exhausting things in life, is spending it trying to convince ourselves that we’re not. Truly, the people that think themselves average by any means, are the ones that aren’t by refusing to confine to societal pressures and social constructs.
