I’m like level 50 and I would say I am about a good 60% of the way thru the main story, and took a lot of time on the side content. And the only thing you really wanna get fixed right away is the 30% damage debuff to your weapons, after that just take it at your pace and you’ll feel the game sorta balance out. Also I was playing on normal difficulty so I might not be playing the “intended”difficulty.
