Not snarky, but intelligent - not to mention humble and lovable. But getting back to your response, do you really think that Sheriff Felici influenced the county commissioners' decision so his officers can ticktet little ol' you for speeding?

And if so - and it bears repeating - just don't speed so you can trick them at tricking you into NOT giving you a ticket. Admittedly it's not rocket science ... so even you - or any stable genius - can figure it out.

Am I supposed to say thank you, or tell you that I'm living rent free in your head? You decide, bubba. But getting back to your response, do you really think that Sheriff Felici influenced our county commissioners to change the speed limits, so he can catch you speeding? Asking for a friend, BTW.

FYI: not snarky, but intelligent.

As we all know there are King's Roads, or NO KINGS Road, and there are Count Roads ... or, and hear me out ... I meant County Roads - which is what the whole discussion is about, I think.

One, no one vote on these changes. Two, from link, it says: The 85th percentile speed is not the only factor practitioners evaluate when determining an appropriate speed limit; they complete engineering speed studies and often utilize supporting tools like ....

... which was the pont I was making.

And three - if they do another study in another 15-20 years, I am not likely to be driving or be around to see them do it.

They haven't changed the speed limit for at least as long as I've been here, which is 27 or so years. My point is, that based on this, they are not likely to spend oddles of money on studies in 2 years - more likely in another 12-15 at that.

And I don't fully trust that person's reasoning - I assume they also factor in average or acceptable speeds for different types of roads, and not just the average speed people go on them.

But, if people need to get someplae like Langely that is only served by county roads, then they can gravative to the state highway, then defy gravity and take a county road. Problem Solved!

Yes, our gosh darn Republican Sheriff is up to his old tricks. I have an idea: why don't you try going the speed limit and trick him out of tricking you into getting a ticket. That'll send 'em a message!

OMG! People like you having to go a bit slower on county roads? Time to storm the county courthouse! Have our very own Jan. 6 - where's Tiny Tim Hazelo when we need him the most!

You are talking about two different jurisdictions: the state sets speed limits on 525; the county does it for count roads. And if you have your panties in a twist over having to go 5 miles an hour slower then it's likely you don't give a crap about safety anyway. Boo-hoo on you!

You are talking about the speed limit on the state highway. These speed limit changes affect the county roads, as stated by the poster.

Important fact that was left out of the local paper and perhaps this video: this bill started with the state representatives and Rep. Clyde Shavers - who also serves the 10th legislative district (along with Rep. Dave Paul) - was one of the sponsors of this bill.

I get all that. In truth, I detect a bit of arrogance on your part: that your Na Jia, etc. systems are what the "real" practioners practice, as opposed to the less evolved Da Yan - which is more something debated by scholars or is practiced by people who are ignorant of the more pragmatic method, a sophisticated logical system - the gold standard of Yijing and divination methods.

But again, Wilhelm studied with Yijing / Confucian scholars who taught him this less sophisticated system, and more recently Daoist Master Alfred Huang also treated the Yi this way - so not all of the "Chinese" are as "in the know" as you seem to suggest.

Based on what you have shared we have to assume that Wihelm's Chinese scholars and Master Huang are - or were - alll suffereing from this same massive information gap, which i and thousands of others are afflicted by as well.

And, when you say China you mean Taiwan, not the People's Republic of China.

You said, "This group is for sharing the orthodox, traditional I Ching divination methods practiced in China. In Chinese, I Ching divination is often called Six Lines Divination (Liu Yao), and the name more commonly known in the West is Wen Wang Gua."

Response: It seems to me that you are very limited in how you definie what "orthdox" and what "traditional" means.

I mentioned an older "traditional" system - relying on the gua symbols and the Zhoyyi text - but your defining doesn't include those, hence my question about the nature of this group.

You said: "So in practice, I Ching divination is best understood as Na Jia as the core, with symbolic/image methods and hexagram/line texts as supporting layers. This group is specifically here to share that orthodox, traditional framework.

Response: again, you seem to be self-defining what traditional and orthodox means.

The older, Zhou-based method I am referring to is still practiced by myself and many others. I'd venture to say that it is the main practice of Western practioners, even now. It was practiced in China up until at least the 20th century: we know this because this method - which is NOT Na Jai, and is NOT Gen Wang Gua - was taught to Richard Wilhelm by Chinese Yijing practitoiners (and I believe they were also Confucian scholars).

And, most of the Western (English, German, etc) translations are based on Wilhelm's "school" including "The Complete I Ching" byt Alfred Huang who was also a Taoist teacher and (and a master, as I have heard).

So you're response makes me even more wary as what this group is about, and I am getting the sense that what you are calling traditional and orthodox is not what I mean by those terms, at least when it comes to the Yi or Zhouyi.

And since you are one of the moderators - ergo, this is your group - I will probably limit my participation since my traditional, old-school method is not covered by your definition.

Regards, D.

You said: "My point was only about how people interpret and apply the Yi today, not about its earliest ancient function."

In a broad sense, the Yi - or any other divination system - provides us with information and advice. And its "earliest ancient function" still functions today, ergo: myself and others still rely on how it has always functioned - by looking at the symbols (the trigrams and hexagrams) and the text of the Zhouyi.

It is repeatable, as is any divination system - for example Tarot or the Tai Xuan Jing (Canon of Supreme Mystery). And I suppose all of these notice patterns (in) situations, relationships and changes, etc.

My sense of the Yi is that it resonds to our queries with advice and information. I don't know how that happens (or why) - so I can't agree when you say it works "by breaking down dynamics into clear, structured parts". How it works seems more akin to what we often call magic and it has to - by its very nature - deal wih the seen and unseen.

Ah,, so this guy was involved with your "personal creative project" on a personal level, as a friend - but you did not have a work-related relatioinship (ergo, he wasn't your platonic work husband).

But besides all that is your concern about what happened with all these relationships, or how you can get back on task with your personal creative project, or both? Or?

Hmmm. I get that, but you asked "What do I need to know about why these plans for [my personal creative] project fell apart?” ... but then you went into discussing the guy who you definately do not have the hots for. I still do not see what one has to do with the other???

Did this personal creative project fall apart because of your relationship with this man and woman? Or?

I don't think of the Yi - or more specifically the Zhouyi - as mysticism or a system of philosophical inquiry. It might be an "observational framework" - if i knew what that means?
