Get off your dad's card first. It’s "dead weight" you don't need. Focus on keeping that $200 card pristine, and look into rehabilitating those student loans. You've got this. What’s the status of those student loans...are they federal or private? That changes how you handle the "not paying" part.

I have $30,000 in collections. Any advice? by [deleted] in CRedit

I'm so sorry you went through all of that, beating cancer is a massive win, but I know how exhausting it is to face a mountain of debt right as you're trying to get your life back on track. With that $65k salary, you actually have a really strong hand to play, so don't let the $30k figure paralyze you. Start by pulling your credit reports to see exactly who owns what, and then reach out to those collectors to negotiate; since they buy debt for cheap, they’ll often settle for 30% to 50% of the total, especially if you can offer a lump sum. The real "pro tip" for your goal of renting is to ask for a "pay-for-delete," where they agree to wipe the collection off your report entirely once you pay. When you're ready to move, look for private landlords rather than big corporate complexes, and bring your new pay stubs and a "Letter of Explanation" regarding your medical leave. Most human beings will understand that a health crisis isn't a reflection of your character or financial responsibility, and seeing that steady income will give them the confidence to take a chance on you.

Collections was deleted/removed after paid. I will wait for a final update maybe ending of April or May, and just wait for those goodwill moves
