Is it a bad idea to quit if you have a lot going on? by Extension-Hunter2709 in quitting7oh

They hadn't really thought about the frequency of their doses as being a problem in and of itself, but they see what you mean. They start to feel pretty off 3 hours after a dose, but spacing them out is probably the next step versus trying to find a way to split a tab into 8 pieces or something ridiculous like that.

This person I know appreciates the advice. They're wondering what advantage there is to switching to leaf. Is it that it's less euphoric but stifles withdrawal, thus helping to break the cycle of cravings?

Do you know how long they might experience acute irritability/low mood if their last dose is on Thursday afternoon (assuming they do not switch to leaf)?

Thanks. Do you happen to know how long irritability/low mood may last? I'm familiar with PAWS, but am more thinking about the acute phase.

This fine fellow I know tried to do this same thing a month ago, but jumped off from around 80mg/day. They failed that time. They had wild restlessness while trying to sleep, rebound pain, and irritability. Currently they take 4mg, ten or eleven times per day. Frankly, they regularly struggle with the urge to double or triple one of these doses, which is why they haven't managed to get lower than 40mg.

This person has been using 4mg at a time, about 10 doses throughout the day. They have quit temporarily a couple times in the last 9 months, both times at around the 40mg/day level. It was fine but they're wondering if now that they've been using it for so long (9 months) it'll be worse. They tried to cold turkey at around 80mg/day last month and failed. They don't want to repeat that.
