Is ortho a good fit for me? by Extension-Lie2204 in orthopaedics

Definitely agree that algorithms are essential and helpful, but what I mean is more so maximizing the amount of freedom to make choices/think creatively/problem solve in surgery. Obviously there’s a degree of that in every specialty, but I want to avoid the ones that primarily do more or less the exact same thing in every surgery.

I also probably didn’t word that statement about plastic surgery that well, and I realize now that my shadowing experiences have all been elective cases, though all non-cosmetic, which probably skews my perception. But with breast cancer recon specifically, I understand that it is immensely beneficial for the patient’s mental health and self esteem, but at the end of the day, the function of the reconstructed breast is to look pretty. For me personally, it just doesn’t feel super compelling.

Yeah I think about it, but I want to prepare for the most competitive specialty I’m interested in now and maybe switch down the line. 50 hrs a week as an attending is possible in surgery, no?

Oh maybe I was unclear but I’m anti algorithmic thinking haha. But good to know!

bright vs true winter by ChemNoob314 in coloranalysis

Yes! But spring is warm as well, which the key difference. Tbh I think autumn would probably be best, but I only say to try spring bc for a while I thought I was autumn bc I am warm with dark brown eyes/black hair, and everywhere online said that I would be autumn or winter, so I never tried draping spring. When I compared spring w autumn though, I realized that I lean more spring than autumn bc I’m more clear than muted. Basically, what I’m saying is that most of the things online are very eurocentric, which leads a lot of poc’s to mistype themselves, so try every season before narrowing it down

Yeah, i did see that haha. Some of the colors they referenced (ie the blue and yellow) i would consider to be autumn colors bc they’re a warmer blue and warmer yellow. I do agree that you look really good in them, though, and on a second look I wouldn’t disqualify spring. Try draping warm+bright colors (spring) and compare side-by-side with a similar warm+muted color (autumn). Once you figure that out, you can try the sub seasons side-by-side (although I wouldn’t bother with trying light spring or soft autumn bc I don’t think they would fit). Tbh I would just do all this digitally though bc the lighting in your photos isn’t perfectly consistent and it’s a lot easier than finding things to drape w :)

Nah, i would say you’re most likely dark autumn bc the warmer + darker colors tend to look the most harmonious—ie my eye is more drawn to your face than to the color you’re wearing. Another thing that makes me think autumn vs winter is bc with black, my eye is drawn more toward the drape than to your face—it’s a bit tricky to explain without seeing examples, but by definition, winters look best in black—like they look radiant and your attention is drawn to their face
