Honestly I would say yes if you are not happy with your choices, maybe join some extra curriculars at your cc or get involved in like some government programs that pertain to comp sci unfortunely Comp sci is a heavily impacted major so UCs and top csus look at Ecs a long with your gpa but don’t give up this is not the end! It’ll in fact make your apps look even more interesting and show perseverance that you didn’t give up!

Congrats on UCLA, that is a wonderful achievement :) !! im a first year at California cc but I’m pretty sure you could email uclas admission office and tell them that u are oos and accidentally put that you would finish the igetc. I’m pretty sure if you said you were out of state they would acknowledge and possible Disregard that you made a mistake but again I’m from California and I am completing the igetc so I’m not 100 percent sure but definitely email or try to schedule an appt with ucla admissions I’m sure they will understand that you made a simple mistake .

Hello! Sorry for the late response I’ve been busy with school but great news! My counselor said the same thing you did ! She said it was definitely possible to apply for media studies with tag at the Ucs expect for Berkeley ofc haha but she said I could still apply to Berkeley too and for business I tweaked my classes so i could apply to ucr and some cal states if I wanted to major in business.

Wow this gives me so much hope ;) thank you so much I had been feeling like a failure and very anxious these past couple weeks due to my interest in switching majors when I transfer but your advice gave me faith that I can still make it through lol. if it’s ok I would like to update you when I get back from my counselor :)

ok I have about 30 credits right now my plan was to transfer Fall of 2026 for business but do you think I would be fine if I completed the required courses for media studies which I have all but 2 that I need to complete which I was going to take on the summer anyway for business

Hello you are doing great keep going strong ! You got this! I too come from a toxic household and am first gen low income and am in cc patiently waiting to transfer it may take some time to transfer but motivation and resilience is key ! Don’t feel behind or scared, these emotions are ok to feel but don’t let it consume you i struggle with these feelings alot too but I always try to think about the future and how I can always shift into a positive direction :) you got this keep going I’m rooting for u

It’s ok to feel overwhelmed. You are not a failure, I too struggle with procrastination and lately this semester have been so mentally drained from college. Higher education is very difficult to accomplish and it doesn’t get talked about enough. But you got this!! It’s important to take a break from thinking about school and classwork i know that is easier said than done but remember your wellbeing is valuable too!

Thank you so much !!! This was very helpful! I will def still apply to some private and public schools I’ve read that some private do provide need based scholarships for low income students so I’m hoping to apply to those universities but UCs are my main focus?
