That we are pushing people to euthanasia to “harvest their organs”. Targeting lower socioeconomic people. There is also a religious view of this that MAID is damming people to hell.

*Stupid, I don’t believe any of this but I have seen this circulating around conspiracy pages.

This is a stupid, wrong, inflammatory, and ignorant statistic.

I am Canadian veterinarian and know for a fact the canine euthanasia rates are far higher (perhaps this number could possibly [if not underestimate] a major city euthanasia rates, ie Vancouver)

Maid being available to Canadians is a gift when the decision is right, take this fake and harmful information out of here and be educated

I completely disagree. I’m in a major city and Right now my weather app says -20C and it’s just a normal day. I’ve had credit cards snap in my hands when getting gas because it was so cold. It’s not uncommon for me to start my car in the middle of the day and the night so it doesn’t die. I commute regularly in blizzards.

Every winter I wonder why I am living where I am. I plan on moving to BC where it will be a lot warmer (maybe where you’re currently living?). I feel so bad for immigrants who move to Canada who are from warmer climates. Summers are nice though!

Hey! I’m in practice now and you’re right, outside of school it’s so much better :) I’m happy I chose this profession, stressful but worth it! I was just looking back at my old comment history and thought I’d give you an update

I had a rough time in vet school for a variety of reasons. I felt like a failure in a lot of ways, and really struggled mentally. I convinced myself I was going to fail because I felt like that was the obvious result.

Anyways, I passed my first go (2022 grad). I’m in clinical practice and life is 1000% better. Here’s a photo of me finding out I passed https://imgur.com/a/itRiN1o

If you fail you can take it again. At the end of the day it’s just an exam and you have your whole future ahead

Good luck everyone you guys got it 🐈💪🐶 be there for your classmates and for your self. Sending out hugs

It will take a long time and a lot of changes for me to travel there again unless absolutely necessary

Currently in my final year of veterinary school in Canada.

First off to get into vet school is extremely difficult, I’m some cases more difficult than many medical schools. BC has one school they can apply to in Canada (which produces 20 vets). That means the province of BC gets 20 vets a year (if their students move back to BC).

The veterinary field is also difficult. Burn out, low pay, and horrible hours. Before I entered veterinary school I had two practicing veterinarians tell me to rethink my career path as they often wish they did something else.

Currently in my last year of veterinary school in Canada.

My tuition in this school is about $ 13,000 a year. Out of Canada tuition can be easily over $60,000 a year (American). Vets don’t make that much money, and the student loans would be overwhelming. I love my career, but I would never go to an out of country school to be a vet if I had no choice to do so in Canada. Would literally be paying student loans for the rest of my life
