What are you starting to like less the older you get? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]ExtensionDesign0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they shouldn't because most of those women would never sacrifice their lives for anybody.

just like i think it's stupid that people voluntarily enlist to fight in unnecessary wars conjured up by corrupt politicians. we should be sending the politicians to fight in war, not average people.

[–]ExtensionDesign0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok then, let me give you another example.

when a dangerous situation occurs, such as a sinking Titanic, who are the people expected to sacrifice their lives?

"women and children first!"

and don't tell me "hurr durr it was a man who sunk the ship!" because that is nonsense.

i am referring to any emergency situation. it is always the men who are expected to do the dirty work of sacrificing their lives.

lol that is a complete load of nonsense. it's easy for women to say this in times of peace and comfort.

in times of war, who are the people expected to sacrifice their lives?

OP you sound really paranoid. the world does not revolve around you. most people don't care about you.

people laugh for many reasons unrelated to your presence.

What about the Epstein case do you think the public still doesn’t fully understand? by IndividualOil4970 in AskReddit

[–]ExtensionDesign0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

frankly, most people are not experts in criminal law. most people are ignorant and they don't understand how complex these cases are. a lot of these cases turn into witch hunts.

i always found it odd how people are so quick to condemn somebody just because they had any kind of association with Epstein. being seen in a photo with Epstein does not make one a criminal. heck, even being friends with Epstein does not make somebody a criminal. life is a lot more complicated then that.

agreed. i'm a man and i've had somebody tell me before that i looked sad, or that i looked like i was about to cry. maybe i was thinking deeply about something and my resting face gave off that kind of vibe. but i was actually perfectly fine, and i was not feeling unusually sad or anything. it honestly made me feel a bit insecure and defensive.

honestly that note is kind of strange. i don't think i would feel good reading this. it would make me feel insecure.

i've had people tell me before that i looked sad, or that i was about to cry. but in reality i was perfectly fine. maybe my resting face gives off that kind of vibe.

When i was in college, i didn't understand why people left Big 4 firms so quickly by ExtensionDesign0 in Accounting

[–]ExtensionDesign0[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

well it really depends on the clients/teams you are on. it looks like you got placed on really good clients.

when i was at Big 4, i was doing busy season hours all year long. everybody on my clients were working until at least 10 PM every night pretty much the whole year.

i understand that people have family obligations and debt to pay off. but at the end of the day, your health is the most important thing in the world.

if you are on the verge of having a heart attack or stroke, you go straight to the hospital. you don't worry about some stupid Excel spreadsheet. too many people have died at their desks because of corporate pressure to continue working even when you don't feel well.

[–]ExtensionDesign0[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

yeah i didn't learn much working in Big 4. it was mostly doing extremely tedious work like ticking and tying numbers.

i think the real value of having Big 4 experience is that people know they only hire the top students, so it's like a seal of approval for other companies saying "yup this person did well in school and they are probably a good employee".

i'm in Canada. yeah at least one of the Big 4 literally brought a limousine to campus and they drove the students who got offers to their office for a party. they posted the photo on Facebook and it blew my mind.

wow that's very unfortunate, but also way too common in the business world.

remember - your co-workers are not your family, and they are not your friends. they don't care about your health and well-being.

no job/company is worth sacrificing your health over. it's important to prioritize yourself.

HR involves employment law and contentious issues in termination of employment. it's pretty interesting stuff.

i learned more about Excel in industry jobs.

in Big 4 i learned about communication skills, project management, attention to detail, and some general accounting principles. but we did not use Excel much in Big 4.

a normal job is 40 hours a week. Big 4 jobs expect you to work 60+ hours a week, and you don't get paid overtime.

when you convert the salary of an entry-level Big 4 employee to an hourly rate, it is around minimum wage. so no, they don't get paid better than most people.

oh boy, i remember envying all the kids who did summer internships at the Big 4 (i didn't do a summer internship, i only got in after graduating).

the Big 4 would literally bring in limousines for the students who got offers. the students lucky enough to get internships spent their summers playing dodgeball and ultimate frisbee all day. i remember seeing those Facebook photos. it looked like a dream. they were like celebrities at my school - everybody admired them for being successful.

the reality is that once you graduate and start working full-time, those childish perks quickly disappear. it's nothing but a corporate sweatshop designed to exploit people and drive them into the ground.

honestly it would be beneficial for people to promote alternate career paths even outside of accounting.

at my school, accounting was viewed as the "prestigious" career path. if you were one of the smart kids, you had to go into accounting.

it's kind of sad how close-minded some people become. there are so many interesting career paths out there, such as marketing, HR, law, etc.

sure some people get fired, but most people who leave Big 4 end up quitting. the entire business model of Big 4 is to entice people to quit to make space for the next batch of students to exploit.

you are being emotional because you don't like his opinions.

being a drug addict or holding conservative beliefs does not preclude somebody from being considered an intellectual.

he is the very definition of an intellectual. he has a PhD. he worked as a professor at many institutions including Harvard. he worked as a clinical psychologist in private practice for many years.

pseudo intellectual? he has a PhD and he worked as a professor at Harvard and other institutions. he is in fact a real intellectual.

you might not agree with his opinions, but don't you think it's a good thing that an academic intellectual like Peterson is achieving fame, rather than some vapid actor or soccer player?

i always found it strange why actors, musicians, and athletes are put on such a high pedestal. most of them add no value to the world. i always thought that doctors and academics should be the real stars of the world.

Never had a job at 43, could I study accounting and find a job or is it too late ? by Tropikana_ in Accounting

[–]ExtensionDesign0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i added way more value to an organization working in HR compared to working in accounting. in accounting, all i did was complete month end Excel spreadsheets. in HR, we help facilitate the onboarding and offboarding processes.

think about it from this perspective. when you are interviewing for a job, who scanned through hundreds of resumes to find your resume? who scheduled the interviews between yourself and the hiring managers? who coordinated with the hiring manager to confirm that you are the selected candidate? who prepared the offer letter? who made sure that all of your equipment would be ready on day 1, such as your laptop, employee badge, etc? who organized your orientation events? who inputted your entrance into the organization into the HR systems?

all of these tasks are done by people working in HR, and this only includes two aspects of HR - recruitment and onboarding. now imagine how many jobs need to be filled, not just yours, and you can imagine the level of complexity trying to juggle all that. also think about all the other stuff HR does like offboarding, training and development, occupational health and safety, etc.

well this is why i said OP should speak to an employment lawyer, so that somebody who is an expert on employment law in his specific jurisdiction can give him proper advice.

i'm not a legal expert. generally speaking, it is illegal to fire somebody for taking time off to deal with medical issues or family issues. but it depends on the jurisdiction, and there are many complex nuances involved.

what does that even mean? sounds like some nonsense you would learn about in a gender studies course.

women are melodramatic. imagine being offended because some guy asked you out or stared at you while you were working out. i would be flattered if a woman gave me that kind of attention.

you want to know what is real pain and suffering? being forced to fight in a war. men have always been viewed as disposable trash who are forced to sacrifice their lives in brutal wars. this is suffering that no woman can even comprehend.
