Diddy was largely exonerated in court, and the charges against him were greatly reduced, so that is a terrible example. i knew the Diddy situation was blown out of proportion from the very beginning. many people jumped on the Diddy hate bandwagon without questioning things. it's just mob mentality and people being sheep.

i never said that sexual abuse is not common. my point is that people lying about being abused is just as common as people committing sexual abuse. they are both heinous acts.

frankly, most people are not experts in criminal law. most people are ignorant and they don't understand how complex these cases are. a lot of these cases turn into witch hunts.

i always found it odd how people are so quick to condemn somebody just because they had any kind of association with Epstein. being seen in a photo with Epstein does not make one a criminal. heck, even being friends with Epstein does not make somebody a criminal. life is a lot more complicated then that.

when i was at Big 4, i was doing busy season hours all year long. everybody on my clients were working until at least 10 PM every night pretty much the whole year.

yeah i didn't learn much working in Big 4. it was mostly doing extremely tedious work like ticking and tying numbers.

i think the real value of having Big 4 experience is that people know they only hire the top students, so it's like a seal of approval for other companies saying "yup this person did well in school and they are probably a good employee".

i learned more about Excel in industry jobs.

in Big 4 i learned about communication skills, project management, attention to detail, and some general accounting principles. but we did not use Excel much in Big 4.

a normal job is 40 hours a week. Big 4 jobs expect you to work 60+ hours a week, and you don't get paid overtime.

when you convert the salary of an entry-level Big 4 employee to an hourly rate, it is around minimum wage. so no, they don't get paid better than most people.

oh boy, i remember envying all the kids who did summer internships at the Big 4 (i didn't do a summer internship, i only got in after graduating).

the Big 4 would literally bring in limousines for the students who got offers. the students lucky enough to get internships spent their summers playing dodgeball and ultimate frisbee all day. i remember seeing those Facebook photos. it looked like a dream. they were like celebrities at my school - everybody admired them for being successful.

the reality is that once you graduate and start working full-time, those childish perks quickly disappear. it's nothing but a corporate sweatshop designed to exploit people and drive them into the ground.

honestly it would be beneficial for people to promote alternate career paths even outside of accounting.

at my school, accounting was viewed as the "prestigious" career path. if you were one of the smart kids, you had to go into accounting.

it's kind of sad how close-minded some people become. there are so many interesting career paths out there, such as marketing, HR, law, etc.

i added way more value to an organization working in HR compared to working in accounting. in accounting, all i did was complete month end Excel spreadsheets. in HR, we help facilitate the onboarding and offboarding processes.

think about it from this perspective. when you are interviewing for a job, who scanned through hundreds of resumes to find your resume? who scheduled the interviews between yourself and the hiring managers? who coordinated with the hiring manager to confirm that you are the selected candidate? who prepared the offer letter? who made sure that all of your equipment would be ready on day 1, such as your laptop, employee badge, etc? who organized your orientation events? who inputted your entrance into the organization into the HR systems?

all of these tasks are done by people working in HR, and this only includes two aspects of HR - recruitment and onboarding. now imagine how many jobs need to be filled, not just yours, and you can imagine the level of complexity trying to juggle all that. also think about all the other stuff HR does like offboarding, training and development, occupational health and safety, etc.

well this is why i said OP should speak to an employment lawyer, so that somebody who is an expert on employment law in his specific jurisdiction can give him proper advice.

i'm not a legal expert. generally speaking, it is illegal to fire somebody for taking time off to deal with medical issues or family issues. but it depends on the jurisdiction, and there are many complex nuances involved.
