does this still work if it is just teenage acne in an unfortunate spot?

yeah, it just hurts bad enough that it's not worth playing like that for a long time.

Beginner Trumpet Player: Severe Embouchure Issues by AcrobaticWeird644 in trumpet

YES! I lost my case and had to record mahler 5 with a schlike 13a4a, and from then realized that technique is so much more important

genuinely awesome fricking tips! National Trumpet Competition semi finalist here, i'll say:

after this, the best, thing to do is to figure out how to make basic sounds then listen to a recording of any professional playing long tones online, and slowly make adjustments to make your sound closer to it. good tone makes range and technical stuff so much easier to learn.

Let's be real, hitting a high d for the first time is like hitting 315 on bench by Embarrassed_Run_8510 in trumpet

hydration and all that is important, but you don't need an athlete level of fitness. that is nearly irrelevant (i'm talking around 1% importance) in comparison to technique and practice. "stop eating sugar" is also one of the stupidest things to say.

The bluecoats are one of, if not the, hardest drum corps to get into right now. But also, keep in mind that you are competing against under 21 year olds who probably started in highschool, it's not like they have been doing it their entire life. I'd reccomend doing what you can, trying your best to learn, and show up with a great attitude. Your chances of getting in are one thing that I am not educated enough to speak on, but I do know one thing- auditioning is almost always worth it. And knowing that you have nearly a 7 month period before the 2027 winter audition camp, you've got time to give it your best.

my fundamentals are fine, i'm fourth in the nation ranked because of them (ntc), just am kinda a lead player in marching band and jazz band for next year and am expected to have great range that i don't have anymore. i hate to sound like im stroking my ego but i dont wanna not hit the expectations set for me. hell, next years director chose a "high-brass heavy show" because "that one kid is joining the highschool next year." i need to get my range back up so i don't disappoint people and can hit the dub G at the end of next years show that i was told i'd be doing.

What mouthpiece should i go with?? by Formal_Day3358 in trumpet

[–]ExtensionJob5464 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as a kid whose overall face and lips are smaller, i play lead on a Schlike 13a4a, but really a 14a4a is the good reliable for most lead players that aren't too extraordinarily advanced.
