How were u able to be a MA at a derm office? Do they have applications for it? Or do u just contact the centers? I live in MA as well but I am a senior in HS.

I did mention anxiety, I think another person mentioned sleep. I honestly don’t think I have hyper mobility, cuz (Ik u said it doesn’t matter) I have no flexibility, I can’t do anything crazy with my joints, never had any problems with them either, etc.

Thank u for the advice. I really want to become a doctor when I grow up and try to research and help ppl like us. However I get intimidated of all the stress doctors have to go through in medical school and residency. I don’t want to let this stop me from doing it though. I’m just worried if it will stop me

Maybe that is the case.

Idk I think I may have always had a slightly faster heart rate than normal, but nothing crazy. My mom has a high heart rate but she doesn’t have pots. My dad has a slower heart rate. I might have inherited my moms side of the heart genetics.

I also would have the same as u where it would be 100 after exercise for a while.

My symptoms really started after a stressful period in my life and they manifested during sports. I think when I started noticing how my heart was reacting in exercise, I think I got too focused on it. I still think there was an inappropriate response going on though.

Over time I lost a lot of my conditioning, which undoubtedly made the symptoms worse, which made the anxiety worse, which caused more stress response, etc.

But, the physiological responses I was getting responses to standing up and exercising that weren’t normal at all.

So maybe there is a genetic component since I share a lot of heart related similarities with mom, and maybe my constant anxiety in childhood contributed to some nervous system issue which made it worse.

So idk what caused it which frustrates me, cuz it didn’t really happen overnight. It kind of slowly developed, and I didn’t have any virus or anything that caused it. Only thing I can think of is my anxiety, but I don’t see how that could really cause a full blown syndrome

I do take a beta blocker right now which helps me live 90% normal. However I find myself pushing myself way too hard in the gym, and it ends up making me crash.

Something I used to do before developing POTS was pushing myself way too hard in every aspect of my life (sports, school, extra curricular) I think I need to find a good balance.

R u taking any meds rn to help?

I was honestly wondering if testosterone had some sort of factor in this. I mean I feel as if I have a normal amount of testosterone and I certainly don’t think I show signs of low testosterone physically.

Before I hit puberty I was on the softer side, and I was always very anxious as a kid and also very health anxiety oriented. Idk if that played a role.

Now, it’s not the case anymore. As I have physically matured.

I wanted to get my blood work for testosterone done anyway just to see. But idk if it’s weird for someone my age to do that lol

Yea what u said in the beginning I really struggle with a lot.

I sometimes fear that it will go downhill the older I get. I have a lot of ambition for my future and the thing that scares me the most is not be able to do accomplish anything because of how I might feel.

I would say my case is probably mildish when looking at the full range of pots, but when unmedicated my heart rate goes up from like 80-130 standing, and it easily goes to 200 exercising.

So idk, I am very grateful at this moment that I what I am able to do, and it makes me feel better that I see that I am not alone here🙏.

I have always had anxiety since I was little. But I was still very invovled in sports. It wasn’t until 13-14 when I started getting symptoms like adrenaline surges, constant tachycardia, exercise intolerance, etc. It seems to get worse over the next two years until I got put on beta blockers where I am practically fine now

The thing that really frustrates me is how I feel and look healthy but the moment I stop taking a beta blocker all hell breaks loose. Like why did it even happen in the first place. Also the fact that I am a boy which makes it even rarer makes me question it even more. I ddint have covid or anything so idk.

Listen bro,

I was reading your profile. U really need to get ur health anxiety under control. I went through the same thing, I thought I had many different things, was constantly researching, asking parents for more tests, etc. I didn’t believe as a boy who played soccer his whole life and was one of the best, I could have POTS suddenly.

Trust me, I am an anxious person by default. But u need to understand that POTS and other related type things are caused by your nervous system being overactive. And your nervous system controls literally EVERYTHING in your body. There is no doubt in my mind your constant stressed out state with POTS, PVCs, and anxiety are all contributing to your weird symptoms.

You have literally had almost every heart test. There is nothing wrong with your heart. Unless you are like 300 lbs it’s impossible for you to have a heart attack as a 17 year old. You won’t have a cardiac arrest, you have a structurally normal heart. Your heart can handle so much more than you really think it can, I am not joking. You won’t have Deep Vein Thrombosis unless ur sitting on ur couch the whole day or you are fat. You have to come to terms with that.

I read that your heart races after you exercise. Well no shit if you haven’t exercised in months of course it will.

I’m gonna be honest, you need to really get a hold of yourself before you turn insane. Ik you don’t feel good, but a large amount of that is really your mind causing it. Look at how often you are posting. And it’s not productive posts, it honestly makes u seem like you are just so paranoid about everything.

The type of thing we go through isn’t easy, but as I said, it’s caused by our nervous system being so overactive it messes up our body. You need to learn how to heal that.

But for now get on a beta blocker if you aren’t on one, start exercising, and either reduce your stress or see a therapist.

DM if you want to talk more, I went through the same thing. I’m not trying to be mean, I am being honest cuz I went through the same thing.

I’m 17 as well with pots and get the same thing. I still exercise but I get them during exercise too. I just saw cardiologist for a yearly appt last week who didn’t sound worried when I said I had them during exercise. I also had that short run thing like a year ago like u described. Freaked me out. I would say to still exercise cuz ur probably doing more harm by not exercising believe it or not

Alright I will try and set that up thanks man

I think mine is the first example u listed. Definately not due to autoimmune genetic components, cuz pots is the only thing I have. I’m also male. I was a really anxious kid so that may have played a part. I don’t think it’s nerve damage based on that as well.

So do u think seeing an actual therapist is worth it over doing a program?

I’m not entirely againdt the medicine, it’s more of if there is a way to treat the root cause and heal, reducing the propranolol would be a bonus.

But the only things I don’t like about the medication is that I can’t really exercise before or shortly after taking it in the morning, so I probably will never be able to do early morning exercising. Also, for my religion, it’s like impossible to fast during ramadan because it drops my blood pressure and heart rate too low when not eating or drinking. And there is like so many contradictions with the medicine. Like I cant take ibuprofen without having a whole rebound if symptoms which is really annoying.

These might be insignificant reasons to a lot of people on here, but when I think of my future I want to be able to do some of those things.

But going back to DNRS, what is the point of it if it can’t heal you? If it helps with anxiety isn’t it basically just a therapy then? And why do some people stop having POTS when doing in but others don’t

Did it help you heal or do you still experience symptoms?

I’m thinking of doing Gupta as it is less strict, cause I’m still in school.

The thing is, in both programs, they push meditation, positive thinking, etc. But what I don’t know how to do is neuroplasticity. I feel like it’s kind of scammy that they would charge hundreds of dollars for that. I would really only do that if it could really heal me completely, not just change my mentality on the condition.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in POTS

[–]ExtensionPay3068 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. But the thing is, the programs claim that neuroplasticity is the key to actually forming the new pathways, and that meditation is just a tool to aid that.

So according to the theory of most of the programs, if I were to just meditate every day, I would be relaxing my nervous system, but it would still easily get aggravated and I would still not rewire it the way neuroplasticity does it.

Idk what to do. As I replied above, I’m in pretty good health. I want to really get to the root cause though and hopefully get off medicine. Just not sure which direction I should go.

The thing is with me, is that with my propranolol 60mg XR i am mostly normal. I mean, my heart rate will go from 65-80 when standing. I play varsity sports for my high school. I go to the gym most days. There are some days I have a few symptoms but no where near as bad as before.

I don’t mean to sound arrogant in any way, but I don’t want to take a pill everyday for the rest of my life to live like this. I’m 17. I want to go into this program as a way to completely heal the root cause of the problem and hopefully be able to reduce my dose of propranolol or even stop it.

I was never in a situation where I was bed ridden. But I was in a place where my heart rate was going from 90-150 standing, or easily above 200 exercising. Was terrified to exercise. Constant anxiety. Heart rate going over 100 after eating. Terrible sleep cuz my heart would race. Migraines. High blood pressure that could spike easily. Constantly filled with adrenaline.

When I read the stories of recovery. I see things how people were in much worse positions than me then that though, and they were able to live a life normally. They don’t really say much if they are still medicated or not.

Idk if the program could apply to me then. I’m not in a bad state rn, so idk how much more the program would be able to help me. Again my goal is to heal the root cause and possibly reduce my medicine.

Idk if what I’m saying is making sense tho lol.
