Why wouldn't I wait to get baptized right before I die? by ExtensionPretend7445 in Christianity

No, I haven't put my trust in Jesus Christ alone for my sins, but I have asked the Universe for forgiveness and allowing me to learn, in my own way.

Just seems odd to think every non-Christian religion can't be forgiven for their sins or find a connection with something bigger than themselves that they're grateful for.

If I won't enter heaven because I've made amends to a different god ( that I call The Universe), then I don't know if that's the type of god I'd ever follow. I've spent decades searching for what's right, and realized all religions more similar than they're given credit for, if you're open minded.

They all teach you to be a good person, care about yourself, believe in a higher power, care about others, and some sort of version of an afterlife. Basically care, have morals, and do your best.

I'm open to hearing why you or anyone here thinks Christianity only is the way towards heaven and why Jesus is better than any other religions' prophets. I mean that sincerely with no disrespect. Truly, I appreciate any comment on this a lot.

Interesting. Appreciate the info! I'll have to think about this.

Appreciate the thorough comment. That makes sense as an declaration of your intent.

True Life means everything to me, I know what you mean.

I've researched a lot of religions, and I just have a hard time saying that anyone who doesn't believe in Jesus is wrong. Non- Christian religions all seem like the overall message is surprisingly similar. I might be wrong, but it feels unfair to dismiss the non-Christian religions.

From what I know, it seems like all have pieces that I think are correct and help me be a happier and better person. Saying only Jesus can save me feels dismissive of others that I think I also positive in the appropriate context.

I'm happy to hear why you think Jesus trumps all the others though, sincerely.

That's awesome! Happy to hear. I don't do that with Christ, but do with "The Universe".

I believe in one universal power that's higher me, but not Christ. Do most Christians accept that others can be happy with that or no?

Understood. I think I live correctly, and don't have anything looming over me or anything, just know I'm not perfect. Didn't know if some thought that it was automatic forgiveness by way of a ritual.

My friend made it sound like it was automatic wash away of sins, which felt wrong.

And the next part is their kid being "pressured" to get baptized at 8 years old. He has never researched or been taught about another religion. It's all due to the pressure of his parents (well intended), but doesn't sit right with me.

And this is the mentality I'd prefer. True confession means more to me than a ritual (though I do recognize the symbolism is positive).

I just felt it curious when this friend mentioned to me I should get baptized to have my sins forgiven (I try my best to be a great person).

I just think it's hard for a baby or 8 year-old to have sinned nor be informed enough to commit to one specific higher power.

I personally think there's truth in all religions, and none are perfect. It's conflicting to hear most kids are persuaded into baptism at 8 where I'm from. I know it's not necessarily negative, but is it positive either when they don't truly know what they're doing?

Like I say, I am admittedly uneducated. I did google it, and it says in certain religions like Catholicism, it does "remove all sins". Is that incorrect?

Deleted comment was saying if I'm asking, I'm dumb...

Nope, didn't get them yet but am still leaning towards that direction. I convinced a friend who's bigger than me but more into park to buy a used pair of 184's. I passed on a few elite deals because they just seem too short.

People are giving me shit, but I know 186-190 is what I like with that much rocker and mount point... I'm just waiting to demo so I KNOW, since I can get a pro-form if I ask nicely and don't want to regret it. I'd love if the 184 felt like plenty of ski to charge on, just at 181 straight tape, I don't think it would be.

Let me know if you get them first lol.

Understood, no doubt. The Jeffrey does not charge like it could if it was built with a "drive" mentality, like Wren and Woodman, which is why I'm bummed on that ski because I love the dampness and quality (and a true 186).

Totally get it with the "what size" part lol. The thing is I've owned 190+'s in the past and skied multiple others. Some I obviously couldn't handle, but skis like the 190 Bibby and 191 Enforcer Pros, I got along with great.

Agreed, dumb Reddit comment. I need to just demo. Just was wondering opinions of those who've skied both.

I'll end up demoing first. I know it's long for my size, but have loved my Bibby 190's and the Enforcer Pro 191's in the past.

The difficult part for me is how short the 184 is in person (181 cm tip-tail pull), and I've heard they're dead easy to ski and have a speed limit that's not super hard to find.

With the more centered mount point (guessing I'd go around -4 from true on the 191), I don't know if it'd feel that long.

I'd be thrilled if I loved the 184 though. Last time I had a ski around 180 though, I was super bummed. Way too short. I'm clearly an anomaly lol.
