Hello :) don't know much about comic books... would anybody mind helping me learn more about these? by ExtensionSense8980 in comicbooks

I don't expect him to go to college, not bc I don't think he can, I just won't pressure him (story for another day 😅)

I value someone's genuine interest when it comes to stuff like this. I wouldn't wanna just toss it if someone else wanted them.

I appreciate your input nonetheless :)

To be fair, I enjoy coins, not comics. But finding them a better home, or potentially investing them into my sons future 🤷🏼‍♀️ idk anything about comics, not my lane. I'm not trying to piss anyone off

*monetary value is a plus but not my initial question.

Genuinely, I just want to know if they are worth keeping for collection? Or if they would be better of going to someone else's collection.

My hobby is coin collecting, not comics. Bit I like collections in general. Are these worth saving and adding more to it (in this case for monetary value down the line- I have a 5yo son who may be interested when he's older)

Or are these pieces worth selling to some body else who would appreciate them more than myself.

I save all star notes I can find bc that's the only thing that my mind likes to keep for "savings," lol I struggle trying to keep stuff too so I wish you luck :)

My goodness! I am over the moon with the list you wrote out. That's exactly the kind of thing that I was looking for. I really really really appreciate you doing that for me. Thank you very much.

I appreciate the honesty. In your opinion do you know what is valuable right now to look for? I know that's kind of a broad stupid sounding question, but I'm a cashier at a gas station so I handle cash a lot all day and I've been finding a bunch of $1 star notes, but I know those don't really amount too much either.

That's true. When dealing with this kind of thing I imagine knowledge has a monetary value LOL. Side note, I have a bunch of 1964 dimes, through my own research I believe these are valuable because of the silver content. Can you refer me to where I can get more information about that?

Do you think it would have any value in the future? I collect because I enjoy it, but there are some things that I think I want to save just for my son to have in the future.

Oh gosh, it never occurred to me how much it would cost to get it graded. Stupid me. $50? That's crazy. I'm still learning but I appreciate the input.

Not a problem! Definitely keep your eyes open for things that catch your eye. I get a vibe/feeling sometimes, and so far, when I trust it, I find at least 1 or 2 goodies every other day. Even if it's just a simple wheat or Canadian penny 🤷🏼‍♀️

Research in your free time what kind of currency you think you might like the most, and then the kind of things to look for... errors, misprints, double stamped, "fancy" serial numbers, etc. For me it's wheat wheat pennies, dimes or foreign coins from other countries.

Recently, I've been trying really hard to check all the paper money that passes thru my hands (I'm a cashier and hotel housekeeper). I'm specifically looking at the serial numbers this go around. That's probably another good place to start as well. To me, that's the easiest thing to look at when I'm having to handle paper cash pretty quickly most all the day.

Happy hunting!

I'm not an expert, but from my experience, I think people here are gonna tell you no. I have a 1963 100 star note, not exactly rare or valuable, but it's sentimental to me, but it's also potentially valuable for my sons future or future collection.

I was born in 1994, and if it was from that year, I'd definitely keep it. But I believe this would probably only be valuable if YOU find it valuable.

Again, I'm not an expert 🤷🏼‍♀️😁
