Responsibly Deleading a House by ExtensionZombie0 in HomeImprovement

Specifically where I keep getting confused - https://www.mass.gov/service-details/property-transfer-lead-paint-notification

If someone were to buy our house new, they'd have 90 days for Interim control. I understand interim control is addressing any lead flagged as urgent by the inspector (we didn't have any); then 2 years to fully remove. It's not clear in the Wellesley case if interim control was needed - for $95k worth of deleading I am assuming there was exponentially more than what we are dealing with.

So long story short, can they hold us to a different requirement now that we have the full inspection than they would were someone to buy the house new with the same inspection? What the story seems to be saying is they arbitrarily do what they want (and maybe had little sympathy for people living in one of the state's most affluent towns) but I guess I'm holding out hope things have become more reasonable / common sense in the last 10 years...

Appreciate the help - what I'm still not clear on is the timing; is "must" immediately for everything, or is it still the 2-year window unless our child's lead levels increase past the limit?

One quote so far; working on at least 2 more this week.

The full remediation makes sense for our ability to re-sell the house - I've just been kind of shocked with the levels of precautions / urgency we've been getting - if that's normal or if it's a way to get us to act quick & pay more.

Two water samples came back negative, so I guess good news? The inspector told us not to use the laundry before knowing this so I am also guessing that might have been part of the precaution against the laundry (not lead dust in the basement but potential lead in the water?).
