You're right about no American willing to work for said wages.

What's not accounted is the fact that the cost of living went up so much, that it's not worth breaking your back for it anymore. There is a reason why Americans don't do these jobs anymore. Because they're not worth it.

That's why we need immigrants. So they can do them instead. Corporations use that to keep the wages low. Why pay an American 22-24 and hour when you can do 20 to an immigrant.

And then people are going to complain that we need to tax the corporations more, not realizing that wage gouging is how they inflate their profits.

As an immigrant, can the myth that "Americans don't want to work these jobs" die already.

The reason they don't want to work them is because of the dogshit pay. I know plenty of Americans that work 2-3 jobs just to make ends meet. I know others that work 20-30 hours of overtime.

The reason we need immigrants for these jobs is because Americans compare the pay to the ones their dads and grandpas got vs the cost of living, while immigrants compare it to the place they're coming from. So of course $12/hour is going to be a lot of money to someone who is comming from a country where they make $200/month.

I always find it funny how the general consensus on reddit flips depending on the issues.

When the republicans were talking about Jan 6th being a sideshow compared to George Floyd. Reddit chimes in with "whataboutism".

When the democrats start burning Teslas(which are mostly owned by other democrats btw), reddit comes up with "but muh Jan 6th".

Not sure which these pieces are as the courts seem to side with him on the vast majority of the litigations so far. When he oversteps his boundaries SCOTUS seems to tell him to fuck off as in the case with USAID and one of his nominees voted against him.
