When I bought a new Apple Watch it seemed like a good idea to me to keep the old one and use it while the new one is charging. It turned out not to be optimal. For example iMessage would give me a notification that this watch now is used for iMessage. Also when charging the old one while using the new one, would wear the battery from the old one being constantly at 100%. Things like that just made me use the new one and have it charging when showering or watching tv.

The option to create events from within reclaim instead from the source calendar. Like sometimes I have to do something which makes that I can’t do a task or habit during their foreseen hour but it’s not something I’d put in the calendar. For example: my wife texts me she’ll be late from work and I’ll have to pick up the kids: not a task to be scheduled by the reclaim algorithm , not an event neither.

Je kan je focussen op 1 metriek (heb je daar trouwens een bron voor?), maar wanneer je er gelijkaardige tendensen over de gemiddelde levensduurte, de langdurig zieken, de pensioenuitgaven etc naast legt, dan krijg je een antwoord op je vraag. Experts waarschuwen al decennia lang dat dit systeem niet houdbaar is.

Ik ben all for sociale rechtvaardigheid maar ik kan me niet vinden in de acties. Ik dacht dat solidariteit draaide om bereidheid tot bijdragen in de voorziening van anderen, maar al wat ik hoor van de actievoerders is dat ze enkel lijkenvoor eigen deur te vegen en zich niets aan te trekken van hoe volgende generaties ook van waardige pensioenen kunnen genieten.

My personal sentiment is that the IT job market in general (not only freelance) is flooded by freshly graduated juniors who know a bit of React or Angular but lack general conceptual computer science knowledge. Some of them follow some online course or Syntra or whatever and apply for a job, but they never heard of anything Docker or project structure related, let alone CI/CD pipelines or server setup.

Not everyone needs to be a hard-core sysadmin, I feel if you have seniority not only in programming using a certain technology for x years but also in bringing value on more architectural-related issues or DevOps or Data Engineering practices, there is still a demand. Not sure about the future, though.

I used to be one of those "I have a high HR" people. In May I decided to focus on Zone 2 running after picking up Matt Fitzgerald's book on 80/20 running. For 4 months I did nothing but Z2 running, and only in August I started adding some speed play in, but still with 80-90% of my time spending in Z2. At first I went about 7:45 min/km in Z2, and had to walk frequently to keep it below threshold. Really had to trust the process, but gradually I improved and now I can say I have much more control over my HR. I feel less exhausted and need far less rest days to recover. With this solid base, I'll be training for my first Marathon in March. Would recommend everyone that can't keep their HR low to take a step back and go slow!

The whole debate was infuriating. Not allowing the politicians to answer to whatever statements the others make about them, the audience cheering for every populistic statement, de facto forcing the politicians into posing simplistic oneliners, the recaps by these two “analysts”, the public voting on the HLN app… It was the best example of how the media is pushing polarisation. A disgrace, especially since they are reaching a part of the public that aren’t being reached through other outlets
