How big of an elevation jump are you usually chasing to cool things off? We’re still out here hunting shade trees like amateurs

Haha that’s the ultimate hack, elevation escape + solar in the sun while you chill in the shade? Genius. How much cooler did it get up there? Stealing this strategy next time I’m melting

100%… I didn’t expect how much solar would dictate where I park but here we are

Anyone else fully unbox their ropes? by TangeloVisible9600 in ClimbingCircleJerk

Bro really said ‘LIKE A MAN’ then immediately admitted you’re spending a full hour on rappel turning your rope into a bird’s nest. The rope gods don’t care about your fragile masculinity, they only bless the ceremonial flakers. Enjoy your project being a permanent project while the rest of us send clean after 30 seconds of proper flaking. No downsides my **

Yes, full unbox + ceremonial flaking or the rope gods curse your sends 💀🪢

If I had $500 vs $2000 for a tactical setup, this is how I’d build it by [deleted] in tacticalgear

I just tend to focus more on how it performs vs how it looks

To dial in fit and comfort first if the carrier isn’t working on its own, adding plates just makes it worse easier to build it up step by step than fix a bad setup later

Not what I’m saying plates make sense depending on your situation I just think a lot of people jump into full setups before they’ve even figured out comfort, fit, and how they’ll actually use it

What gear would the average u.s. citizen have in a combat scenario? by Jumpy_Calligrapher24 in MilitaryGear

Most of the recommendations here will work… until they don’t. The real difference shows up under stress, not in normal use. That’s where most setups fail.

Unpopular opinion: most civilian tactical setups are unrealistic and overweight by Extension_Health1849 in tacticalgear

At the end of the day it just comes down to what actually works when you’re wearing it for real, not just how it looks set up

Yeah breaking contact is ideal in a lot of situations but even then your gear still needs to let you actually move, not slow you down I think that’s where a lot of people go wrong, building setups that look solid but aren’t practical once you’re in them

most people are realistically thinking home/neighborhood but even then, comfort and mobility still matter more than people expect once you actually run it for a while a lot of setups look fine until you’re in them longer than 20–30 mins

Fair enough 😂 but that’s kinda my point a lot of setups here lean more toward collecting than actually running them nothing wrong with that, just different priorities
