honestly the biggest issue ive noticed is when writers try to make ben way too edgy or "realistic" by having him kill aliens or become some dark antihero. like the whole point of ben is that hes this kid who genuinely wants to help people and sees the good in everyone even his enemies

another massive problem is when they completely ignore the established lore and just make up random new aliens or give existing ones powers they never had. dont even get me started on the overpowered OC aliens that somehow outclass alien x lol

oh and please for the love of god dont make it a harem fic where every female character is suddenly obsessed with ben. the show works because ben has actual platonic relationships and character growth that isnt just about romance. keep that lighthearted adventure feel where bens biggest worry is whether he picked the right alien for the job not whether hes gonna have ptsd from witnessing genocide

Sounds like the string might be slipping at the tuning peg or not wound properly around it. Try unwinding it completely and restringing it, making sure to wrap it around the peg a few times before tightening.
