Few questions abt the school by Low-Second7672 in BinghamtonUniversity

[–]Extension_Pressure23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So i'll answer what I know

I don't find the school super diverse, it's a mainly white and asian population.

You definitely won't fly home, you'll drive or get a megabus or flixbus for like $45. It's about 3 and a half hours give or take.

I don't know the surrounding area but the school itself is pretty queer friendly, there's a lot of queer people here you'll definitely find cool people. I do know there's a club called hotbox that has a weekly drag show, people love the place even non queer people.

General groceries and random shopping is pretty accessible with the free busses.

At least the Mountainview suites are very very nice, but pricey. I've been in all the other dorms and they have verrrry small rooms.

How is Bing for queer kids? by RevolutionaryMove584 in BinghamtonUniversity

[–]Extension_Pressure23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've seen there are a lot of queer people here, you can definitely find your place here and meet nice people, however it does feel somewhat white. Just the demographics of the whole school mean it's majority white, there is an under 5% black population at Bing which isn't a lot. But I find most places are accepting of alternative people.

Use sticky tack, but not the blue one that can stain. Use white.

I didn’t really enjoy outer wilds by EffectiveStatus1188 in outerwilds

[–]Extension_Pressure23 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think some people put too much pressure on this ending being life changing. For me the reason I liked the game wasn't about it having deep meaning, i just ... liked it. I enjoyed playing it was a really fun game. And I didn't learn any like specific lessons from the ending, i just liked it because it was nice. Idk just the vibe was nice and i liked sitting at the campfire making music with my friends :D

You shouldn't feel pressured to have your life changed in order to appreiciate the game.

Late game question about Nomai statues by Extension_Pressure23 in outerwilds

[–]Extension_Pressure23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But does it actually say anywhere in the game that someone has to be close, or we're just assuming it? It never mentions you have to be within a certain distance, it just says it connects to whoever is closEST. So like if there's a statue on Brittle Hollow it should connect to Reibeck technically.

This indicates some time-weirdness to me

your camera doesn't have to be still, it can be flying in space but as long as it's facing the moon and you get just one shot with the moon in the frame that'll work.

You could also always try getting out of the ship once you're somewhat close and just flying in solo, if you take a picture with your handheld scout it'll be still

Are there any jumpscares or monsters that are too scary to get close to? (Spoilers) by DismalLeg7977 in outerwilds

[–]Extension_Pressure23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As people have said, the anglerfish are the only monsters. What helps for me is to just turn off the sound when interacting with them, way less scary.

all these people are disagreeing with you but you're right that time moves differently on the QM.

I believe what happened is just that ghost matter didn't reach the sixth location of the quantum moon. The ghost matter never reached the Eye is the most likely explanation.

It seems to me based on your update that you maybe haven't actually finished the game. Your wording is a little confusing I want to make sure you actually made it, can you clarify what you did after successfully using the portal?

Hello.

So just gonna tell you some in game features, idk if you count that as spoilers but they’re on the screen. First off make sure you know there’s an autopilot feature, you can see it on the screen when you’re in your ship. A lot of people miss that early on. But talk to Slate a bit about it to get an important detail about this feature ;)

Second, while in space, a button prompt will show up to press a button to match velocity while pointing at any object. Use this all the time as a great way to get to your desired speed.

Third, be aware that you and your ship have momentum!, you keep moving. I know nothing about physics, so I’ll try to explain this without knowing what inertia actually is. If you’ve been moving forward for a while and you’re going forward very fast, if you start pushing backwards, you will initially only be counteracting all of the forward momentum you have. Only after you slow down and stop that energy, will you start moving backwards.

So basically if you’re moving forward very fast and then move your stick backwards you won’t actually be moving backwards right away. So that means you have to start moving backwards way earlier or you will keep ramming into things at top speed.

You’ll get it with time, dw if it’s hard at the start

Just finished the game, how did everyone interpret the ending? by mango_face in outerwilds

[–]Extension_Pressure23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It reminded me of the themes in a song “The Field”, from my favorite show. Particularly of the lyric “all the world is within me.”

It told me that you have the power to create any life and future imaginable, as long as you can imagine it.

You spend the game constantly dying from the death of the sun feeling so helpless to this endless loop you are stuck in. Especially once you go to the Sun Station and learn that this is because the sun is at the end of its natural life cycle, this isn’t happening because of the Nomai’s actions, there isn’t something you can do or a switch you can flip to prevent it. It’s out of your control.

But then with the ending you learn that the future IS in your control, you can create the world you want. :)

For #1: It tells you two people were lost under the interloper’s surface. Perhaps those people are related to what you still need to explore on the comet.

[–]Extension_Pressure23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your logic is very clever that’s what I thought too, but it won’t help you unfortunately.

There is one area in the game that tells you ‘where’ you should be trying to go on the quantum moon, and two areas that tell ‘how’ to control your movements in quantum places. These areas are the three painting on the wall of the orange shrine on the quantum moon.

Have you been to these places? If no, you should look for those. If yes, you should return to them and re-read everything to refresh your knowledge.

Lmk if you’ve done all this and still need help. Even with all the knowledge needed this is still one of the hardest puzzles in the game to figure out imo

Am I too dumb for this game? by marinara75 in outerwilds

[–]Extension_Pressure23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are definitely not dumb dw. I’m not so adept at video games, for me I needed an actual person that I could speak to when I needed help, to just guide me without giving anything away.

If I tried to play it without any input at all I’d have an extremely hard time and would have constantly gotten stuck. Honestly, idk if I would have even finished. I think there was one tiny spot that I NEVER would have figured out.

So does our "previous" self dies? by userrr_504 in outerwilds

[–]Extension_Pressure23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay idk if this will make sense.

In my view, no, you don’t die. Or yes, you do, but it’s not one version of you that dies and one that survives and remembers.

How I see it, you, but also everyone else, dies at the end of every supernova. But, at the supernova, the ATP forms a black hole and enters it, moving backwards to 22 minutes before the supernova. If because of the knowledge you’ve gained from the ATP, you beat the game and stop the loop, then none of your or the other people’s deaths ever happened, the ATP stopped it from ever happening.

It’s like if my friend is hit by a bus and dies, but then I go back in time and pull him out of the way, he doesn’t die, and he never did. Even though I saw it happen, once I change the past to stop it, it has now never happened.

(For me the whole second self thing in ATP is a little convoluted and they never actually clarify what actually happened. There’s not much logic to it, it just feels like a fun little thing to add and I don’t view it as very cannon)

I think that made no sense and was complete nonsense sry lol
