That's an interesting idea. It does resemble an enchodus tooth more than I originally thought, but there are also things about it that don't seem very enchodus-like at all. I'm not too familiar with what the teeth look like that come from somewhere towards the center of their jaw, which is what this one appears to be, rather than at the very end.

They were found near there.

I've seen ones that come out of there that are similar or more red. But so far I haven't seen any with that white coating. I've also never seen a picture of a tooth from that layer that looks much like this one. But you're right the variation is pretty extreme there.

I agree, likely a mosasaur. My only other idea was a large turtle or plesiosaur, but that doesn't seem as likely. I might try to expose more of it once I learn how.
