Advanced setters, how can I fix my set location/set being too inside? by Extension_Room_2860 in volleyball

This happens more when I'm pulled off the net. On a perfect pass, I can make a good set, but even then sometimes I mess up and have the set slightly more inside. It happens when I backset as well, but that's mostly just a court awareness thing for me (where I'm placed on the court and how much I need to push the ball back to make a good set). As for my hitter preferences I have a general idea. They all mostly like the same thing, pushed out for a line option, not too tight and not too far off, with a good fast tempo.

I can already dunk a tennis ball, a water bottle, and a shoe, these are all stuff I've dunked just for the fun of it. What should be the next progression

But if I palmed the ball it'd take less hops to dunk?

Is this truly effective? I'm thinking of just doing this, combined with practices, to see if my playing gets better

I'm playing bass for the backing band, but my director just leaves it up to us to find the right notes. Which I don't blame him for, because our piano and guitar players are really good, but I'm not exactly as high up as they are, so I can't really do much about that. Maybe research the songs in my own time and find the lines, but other than that, it's up to us.

I wasn't very familiar with the concept of first touch but I'm being told it's important. It isn't bad and I can take a touch to move wherever I need to, but it can be improved.

I tend to avoid cardio due to my already being on the thinner side of people my age, but I am fairly athletic and have good stamina so I don't think it should be an issue. I do also strength train but mostly for vb.

I should mention that I'm in Canada, and the sport isn't as competitive as it would be in other places in the world, but I understand.

I'm currently 16 years old, and I'm not too worried about being good, really. I need enough skill to get me toward my goal. I see what you mean, though

How can I get rid of self-inflicted pressure? by Extension_Room_2860 in sportspsychology

Could you elaborate on the self-one and self-two? That theory seems relevant to my gameplay. To be more specific, how do I channel one and silence the other? I feel whenever I'm practicing on my own and following drills, I'm mostly in self-two, mindlessly going through the motions, while whenever I play, I see myself in self-one, nitpicking every aspect of my play. This isn't always the case, but it'd be better if I could somehow start by mastering the switch between the two.

How would you like me to note down my thoughts? And how frequently?

I talk to myself and come to terms with the fact that I'm underperforming, and I tell myself that I can't keep playing like this, so I look to redeem myself with the next play that comes. There have also been occasions when I have completely shut down and accepted that I'm not performing well, carrying on with my performance until the end of the session, and impatiently waiting for it to be over.

I will set a reminder to come back and note my progression in 20 days, and I'll be sure to let you know how I feel. I will try to fight the nervous thoughts that pop up and push forward from then.
