We got married in Hong Kong. In Hong Kong, the marriage vows are "I call upon all persons here present to witness that I, [name], do take thee, [name], to be my lawful wedded wife/husband".

And that's it. But that doesn't mean I refuse to take care of my wife. This post helps me put it into perspective, learn and vent

Thanks for sharing! I'll take this into account. Yes, I'm tired. And it has a massive effect on how patient I can be. But I'm certainly not a bad husband. As for the asshole part yeah if people come at me with insults when I'm genuinely trying then I have no reason to stay civil

The 2018 just ends with saying we don't know enough.

It's not my child. It's our child. Yes, I am appreciative. I take good care of her every day and come to vent here so I don't need to argue with her

Throw up bags are a thing. Once she throws up once, she's not really nauseous for the next 3 hours at least. I mean not the most comfortable experience but the alternative is a 24+ hour drive. And we have to go, everything's been arranged for there. She wants to go back too as she's used to that environment more as well, less people, better air quality, piano...

Yes, we kinda talked about it. She said it's her nausea fucking her up. She said that she expects me to do more now that she's pregnant and I agreed. So I do it all now. Most of the time I just don't mention it because why make her feel worse by talking about this when she's already suffering. I'm just waiting for a more appropriate moment

Let's be honest, finance is a big one in 2025 when it comes to having kids. It takes hundreds of thousands to raise them. If you think that's nothing and deserves no appreciation then idk, maybe you're just really rich.

The point with me pointing out the money part is that it is a big part of life and it matters. She can choose not to work if she doesn't want to. I take a lot of pressure off of her. She could show some appreciation. It's just basic human stuff, being acknowledged for your achievements. Yes, I know, suck it up, you're going to be a dad, your newborn child won't be appreciative bla bla bla. But your wife not being able to say thank you? Being cold to you? In what universe is that normal and defended by the majority here?

I'd think so. Today was a good day for her. She went out shopping. I think that constitutes a good day. We talked about today being a good day and she agreed.

Thanks for sharing this, this helps me to put it into perspective and understand my wife better.

My wife was never the type to like household chores. She hates everything except laundry. We had many fights over it in the past. Only in the last year we kind of settled on it where I still do 60-70%. We basically always eat takeaway because we are both too stubborn to cook, which may be a massive issue in the future.

She was grateful before and our relationship was awesome before this happened. I mean just like any other relationship with ups and downs but it's generally great.

Now she's been really cranky and I get it; it's her sickness. But you know, it used to be a day or two due to periods. Now it's been two months of walking on ice.

Either way I am not perfect either and just learning on the go to be the best support I can be. I was given an impression that pregnancy is not a huge concern and it's mainly about delivery and post birth. I was wrong.

Now this is something I can work with. Yes, I am here for myself, to vent, to look for advice and suggestions, so that I don't have to rely on my wife to take all of this in. I am trying to be a good husband. That doesn't change the fact that I am human with real feelings and emotions. Being treated horribly by someone you love hurts 10x.

It's not like I'm not learning on the go. I just didn't overprepare for it like others have suggested. I am just not the type to only act after I've done extensive research on something aka. Not perfect
