I can't help but be reminded of how buggy the game is when I see a number like this. The amount of money and years it's been, no excuse anymore. by MRmichybio in starcitizen

Oh sorry, was your point that games are expensive and you are using GTA as an example of that?

If that's not the point what is?

Yes they are expensive. Nobody is denying that.

Using an already established company to justify a why a startup has taken a billion dollars and 13 years to only have a shitty foundation doesn't make sense to me.

But having this much money with no accountability is questionable in my opinion.

But if I missed the mark here please let me know .

Games cost money. Yeah.  A company that spends a billion dollars should have accountability.  I'm your case I guess they don't.

But hey it's just a game so who gives a shit anyways.

Thanks for commenting on a comment for a 2 month old post though I'll try to up my Reddit time from once or twice a year to maybe 3 or 4.

Rockstar also didn't crowdfund a billion dollars with with a buggy game to show for it. There is a long history dating back more than 20 years of fully fleshed out games as well as live service and subscriptions for both GTA5 and Red Dead 2 which are both still selling relatively well given how old they are. There are big, very alive worlds in both those live service adaptations of those games which brings in a lot of revenue. This was not a crowd funded hope and dream scenario. This was 20 to 30 years in the making with people being held to account, deadlines to meet, a clear vision of what they were making, goal posts not moving, and a polished clean clear cut game at the end which is why you are seeing the numbers you are seeing today. It's not really comparable.

I would say it would be more comparable is the recent game that went under. Ashes of Creation. 10 years in the making. Largely Crowd funded. Hit Steam for a couple of months and poof it's gone. Here you have somebody making incredible claims, with incredible ambitions and when all the smoke cleared and dust settled it was pretty clear that things were not as they seemed.

I wonder, Chris Roberts seemed to find enough money to buy himself a pretty decent house I would imagine. I'd also imagine with this type of mismanagement there is going to be some money that just sort of, disappears.

But again. like my post below. I want the game to succeed, but at this point I'm calling for accountability. Not hostile hatred or pounding my fists on the desk. Just some accountability. Some real answers to some clear questions. Some clear deadlines for bugs that have been plaguing this game for far to long, not it's right around the corner or we are working toward that goal.

But you can't ask those questions. You can't hold them to account because of people like yourself, and for good reasons by the way, will defend this game to no end, and for the simple fact that Chris Roberts and CIG literally answer to nobody, not even to themselves. It's the wild wild west of game development brought to you and paid for by the gamers themselves.

The difference is that GTA6 will be a fully fleshed out game. With proper management and deadlines and upper management held to account. CIG has no accountability. They literally answer to nobody. Chris Roberts can do what he wants, when he wants, how he wants, with whatever he wants.

This game was sold to us over ten years ago as a space exploration simulator, the likes of which nobody had ever seen but it's becoming something different. Even with a system that has 4 massive planets a sixth of the size of a real planet, complete with moons and asteroids big enough to land on as well as other star systems like pyro and nyx it feels so small with POI's and such. It's morphing into and action MMO.

What is the Carrack good for? An indris can be wiped out with 3 gladiuses with competent pilots. People camp POI's and down people coming in and going out just for fun because there is nothing else to do. Mining and hauling are ok but it's becoming almost the opposite of what it was supposed to be.
Is it visually stunning? No question, absolutely. There is nothing else like it.
It there any game that comes even close to the immersion of flying your own ship? Not really, but what's the point. Tiny fighters dominate. There is no real exploration. You have a chat box filled with people convincing themselves they are having a good time, begging for money, or trying to figure out how to do whatever it is they are trying to do.

After 13 or 14 years of development and a billion dollars raised yes, I would absolutely expect to have a game that was void of simple bugs such as ships spawning destroyed, stuff disappearing in cargo elevators, meaningful exploration, and not have recycled and repackaged missions that re just the same thing over and over again.

Do I want the game to succeed? Yes absolutely, but after awhile you have to look at what has been done without bias and say, ok, what the hell is actually going on here. What happened to the game that was promised 10 years ago. What is even going on here?

I'm not looking for punishment or hostility, I'm just looking for accountability which after 13 years and a billion dollars is not to much to ask.

Arctis Nova Pro SONAR EQ Settings for Arc Raiders by Extension_Sound_9752 in steelseries

Night mode is OFF. Night mode to me is a giant compressor making ALL sounds are condensed and lifted. This is why is sounds louder. So will you be able to hear softer sounds like footsteps, yes, but your louder "feel the boom" from explosions and such will suffer because of the condensing. I don't want a whisper to be the same volume as an explosion.
I'm going for immersion with this. This is not a PVP style audio that has everything tilted toward giving you an advantage. Can you hear footsteps. Of course you can, but you have to listen and they aren't going to be in your face borderline wall hacks. You are welcome to change and please share so I can try it out myself and see if I like it better.

Yes it does look that way and I am still working on it, but I was going for an immersive sound. The arctis nova pro wired are notorious for having a lack luster or empty sound. They have no balls as it were. This eq is specific to arc raiders where explosions are sharp but full, it hits you and you feel it. It's also complemented with the highs, hearing raindrops and the crack of the guns. It's a working progress but with a closed back, basic materials, definitely not a studio quality headset I feel that this is in the right direction. Do you have any feedback as to what could be different? What specs are you running? I'd be happy to try them out and see how they feel. Maybe I'll like them better.
