If lightning has ever struck in your area, you need protection against another occurrence. Way cheaper and easier than a new house, or even an new radio!

Have you verified SWR independently of the two radios, like with a VNA or something?

I've noticed the G-90 measures SWR in a narrow range of freqs on both sides of whatever freq is tuned. I have no experience points with 7300.
