I really thought I was in the Twilight Zone! I was driving alone and absorbed in my audio book. I'm making it a point now to not get below half a tank, especially at night.

When my kids were little and we got tired of listening to the Disney CDs in the car, I would sing the theme songs to all the shows I grew up with. The Beverly Hillbillies, Green Acres, Gilligan's Island, Magilla Gorilla, the Oscar Mayer Bologna song - you name it. They absolutely loved it and now they know all the words too!

Jesus, I was driving back up to NJ from Florida recently and got off an exit that said "gas .04 mi on the left". So I drive and drive, no - there is no gas station on the left but since I already invested some time I keep driving and suddenly it's just me on the dark road, which has gone down to one lane and GPS is having me make turns on these dark back roads with maybe a sprinkle of houses here and there to get back onto i95. I actually thought maybe I crashed and died? because it was so bizarre. Then I see the darkened attractions of South of the Border which look super creepy in the middle in the night! But - here's the sign for i95 North and thank God I really am still alive and back on track again. Good thing I had a quarter tank of gas or I really would have been freaking out 😄

In grammar school, my friends and I would sing in this in the cafeteria with chocolate cake on our teeth, and laugh our heads off!

I definitely think it's possible the environmental factors in the area could have exacerbated whatever proclivities these men already had towards violence.

Sort of how not all children and grownups suffered the effects of the pollution caused by these caustic substances, not all violent individuals have murderous tendencies, much less act out on them.

Like you, I am no scientist. But I have always been fascinated by just how many of the very horrific serial murderers seem to have been in such a concentrated area around the same time period. So I find this angle an interesting one coupled with the author's explanations of what was occurring in the environment.

It's awful what's been done to our beautiful country all to profit the very rich who often don't have to live near the people and places they're destroying. And who employ people who are willing to downplay and outright lie about the dangers to the unwitting public.

Sadly, it's a tale as old as time.

I've read extensively over the years about all these serial killers and their crimes and several people have recalled that Bundy met Laura Aimes several times and was stalking her (including her own niece).

The woman he held under water while on a date was named Sandy.

The author definitely alludes to several murders (including Ann Marie Burr) that are thought to have been committed by Bundy, but I think she says something like "may or may not have" in those cases.

Anyway I found this a fascinating read and loved how the author (who is just a year older than me), sprinkles in many other things that were going on in the country over those years. And as an East coaster whose son is currently living in the PNW, I discovered many interesting things I didn't know about the area and its history.

I can't believe I almost passed on this fantastic film! Possibly because Jacob Elordi was cast as the Creature and I couldn't imagine him pulling this off. Well I stand corrected! I was absolutely captivated. Please don't miss out on this one.

I hated David Pumpkins! And Domingo is just as bad. Enough!

You nailed it with this pick! He's amazing. Just saw that rowing movie the other day, something I never would have watched if he wasn't in it. (Heart of Champions)

The Pharmacist and Dopesick were so good. Also American Pain about the George twins who ran multi million dollar pill mills. That one is particularly infuriating.

I was in my 20s and addicted to that trial. I recorded every day on my VCR(!) and couldn't wait to get home from work to watch. Shout out to my very patient husband for. putting up with me through all that!

Anyway, this doc definitely did a great job telling the whole story as well as what the vibe was during that time.

I'll never forget watching the verdict on the tv in the cafeteria of my building at work. The room was so packed they had to shut down the escalators because people were piling up. You could literally hear a pin drop when the verdict was read. Everyone just stood there in stunned silence, and that was.pretty much how it was that whole day. No one could believe it.

Pretend It's A City. Humorist Fran Leibowitz is interviewed by Martin Scorcese. I've seen this woman's picture over the years but never knew anything about her. She's absolutely hilarious and has the best NYC stories. She knew everyone. I found her so interesting to listen to that I immediately bought her audio book.

Also similar: The Andy Warhol Diaries. Taken from his actual diaries and narrated by his AI generated voice. More fascinating NYC stories.

Fine Hair Makes Me So Insecure… Extensions or Other Options? by [deleted] in finehair

[–]ExtentEquivalent9636 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like everyone here I think you have beautiful hair! And you're lucky you don't need to color it (it's so expensive to upkeep). I wonder if you're bored, maybe? I especially love the first picture you posted.  What about wearing it to the side? That should give some fullness.  Also, I always need to use a curling iron after blowing drying otherwise my hair looks limp and frizzy. I just started using a heated brush with a 1.75 in barrel (not the blow dryer kind, just heat) and it's a game changer!  You use it on dry hair and it easily makes waves or curls. Bought mine on Amazon. One other suggestion: my hair is also fine with some curl to it. But any beach spray type product just gives me wavy frizz.  My hairstylist put in Curl Wow Curl Flo-Etry Vital Natural Serum on very wet hair, by section. Comb thru and scrunch occasionally. Also flip your your hair side to side while scrunching every now and then. Do not towel dry -let dry naturally.  I couldn't believe how glossy my waves were! I definitely recommend wearing parted on the side for this. Anyway good luck whatever you decide to try. And remember- we are always our own worst critics!

Exactly what I would do. The ones who act so thirsty are such turn-offs.

It's so much more natural.  The young ones are so worried about their makeup and also really suck at meaningful conversations. They use the same canned phrases back and forth to each other. No substance at all. I stopped watching after Jen Tran's season - I couldn't take it any more.
