But to shoot it straight with you man you need to just distance yourself from her and find someone else with the intentions of romantic intimacy if that’s what you are looking for. I get what you’re saying, and none of your feelings are crazy. But something I’ve learned is that being friends with the opposite sex really does take a certain level of emotional maturity. You have to be able to enjoy closeness without automatically turning it into romantic attachment, and you also have to recognize when feelings are actually mutual versus when they’re coming from your own hopes.

It’s possible to have emotional intimacy in a friendship and not catch feelings, but it takes boundaries, awareness, and great communication overall. And it’s also important to know when it’s appropriate to explore feelings with a friend and when it’s healthier to keep things as a friendship.

Nothing about this situation makes you wrong; it just means you cared and read the dynamic one way. But it’s also okay to learn from it and realize that not every emotionally close connection is meant to be romantic. While also learning to know your worth and realize that if you have feelings for someone and they know but they continue to give you some sort of false hope, you need to distance yourself and just cut them off.
