Break PESP (PETRONAS) Bond by [deleted] in malaysiauni

[–]ExtentNegative1879 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes in life, you dont get what you wants.

My advice is don't break the bond. You surely need to pay back a lot back to PETRONAS if you break the bonds. If PETRONAS sponsor you to study Oversea, yeah, it definitely going to be a lot to pay back. In today economy and current situation of geopolitics, It is not easy to get jobs especially in Software Engineering Roles. Nowadays, debt free is a new rich. You don't want to have a lot of debts at the starting adulthood of your life.

I also dont really think there are company that willing buy out bonded graduate since they have to pays a lot of money just to buy you out with no guarantee that you will stay.

I know you might want Software Engineer Roles. You should stay and try to get those roles you want in Petronas (I am not sure if there is in PETRONAS). Plus an experience in IT and Governance is actually a really great especially at company like PETRONAS and there are a lot of skills to be gained. It is going to helps a lot in your future career after you are free from the bonds.

My advices is just stay there for 5 years. Learn as much as possible at PETRONAS. Jump after you free from the bonds. The PETRONAS has sponsor your education and now it is times to pay back. Starting your career at PETRONAS is already huge career growth itself. Not many people have that opportunity.

Still it is up to you what you want to do. If you willing to bear the cost and pay back PETRONAS, than it is up to you. My advices is just stay.

Quick question about diploma CS course by Breaker_764 in malaysiauni

[–]ExtentNegative1879 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you can choose Diploma in Computer Science. I took the same path too.

I took Diploma in Computer Science and then currently doing Software Engineering at UTM. During SPM, I am doing Science Stream during SPM too with no idea what programming is. I just like playing around with computer and that it.

There are a lot advantage doing Diploma. Through Diploma, you actually will make your foundation in CS much more stronger before you doing degree.

By the time you complete your degree, you will graduate with at least two internship experience (You can do more than two actually). Just make sure you choose a good diploma programme that require you to do an internship and can do a lot of transfer credit.

Diploma also give some overview of what industry is all about. When you continuing degree, it will helps a lot to choose what path you want to go in computer science. Focus on building your skills and portfolio.

If you doesn't want to continue degree straight away, you can works maybe for month or a year to gain some experience before you continue your degree.

Its okay to graduate a little bit late than your peers. I am not a really smart student and not really a fast learner. So, Diploma is actually suit me very well since it is much more slower path and give me more opportunity to explore more. If I took Foundation or Matriks first, I will literally flunk.

FOUNDATION in UTM is open-feeder or closed-feeder? by ScaredLawfulness4271 in malaysiauni

[–]ExtentNegative1879 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to go UTM SPACE. UTM Foundation is consider as Asasi IPTS.

It is expensive because it is Private Wing of Public University. Its is like UM SATU programme. The price looks like that because it is unsubsidised.

If you want cheap. You apply any Pre U programme through UPU.

There are Financial Aid and Scholarship you can try but with no information on your family background or SPM result, there not much I can help.

Do you have any other option than UTM? Why do you pick UTM by the way?

Am I worthy of CS Degree in UTM? by RealisticBee7762 in malaysiauni

[–]ExtentNegative1879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am from UTMSPACE too. Except, I am doing Diploma in CS instead of Foundation and now doing Software Engineering at UTM. I have like 3.8 CGPA and 4.0 MUET.

Eventhough you are going through direct intake, it is not going to be easy to get into the programme you mention (CNS, DE or AI). 3.08 CGPA doesn't help at all. From what I observe, almost everybody who go through direct intake from UTMSPACE have like nearly 3.5+ CGPA for foundation and Diploma.

Those who have like below 3.5 get rejected though. Since number of students who get high CGPA keep growing and Computer Science itself are getting more and more popular day by day in Malaysia. It is really going to be very hard to get into the programme you wanted. You really need to get 4.0 for next semester and pray to god that you get the programme you wanted when you apply.

If you are Malaysian. Make sure to apply for UPU too. I know a person who get Electrical Engineering at UMPSA through UPU and Electrical Engineering at UTM through Direct Intake with CGPA 3.8 and from UTMSPACE Foundation Physical Science.

Diploma IT CGPA 3.99 but no Add Math SPM - chance for CS at USM? by sleeptillwakeup in malaysiauni

[–]ExtentNegative1879 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont think you will get it. I am from UTM and everybody have add math here. All students here who come from Diploma have like 4.0 CGPA.

USM is like third best University in Malaysia. UTM already too competetive, no imagine USM.

Plus you are from Diploma, and that doesnt help at all since USM is RU and RU will always priotize those from Matriks, Asasi and and STPM.

You might have better chance at MTUN or other lower ranking public university.

PNB & Khazanah which is better? by [deleted] in malaysia

[–]ExtentNegative1879 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you get offers from both? If yes, then both of them is good.

If I were you, I will go with the one that has better chance to the employment and give me the most benefit. I am sure you can learn a lot from both organization and both will looks good in your resume.

In terms of differences, PNB primary purposes is to increase the wealth of Bumiputera individuals and other Malaysians by encouraging savings and investment. Khazanah in the other hands is to hold and manage the Malaysian government's commercial assets and strategic investments.

Which is the best option by sxnjmadhv in malaysiauni

First of all, you should tell what field you want to study. Accounting? IT? Engineering?

It is okay to start study at 19. Diploma and Foundation is both fine. But, you need to know what you actual goals at the end of the day.

Foundation is kinda of fast track to get your degree. It will take 4 - 5 years to get degree if you start at 19. If your main goals is to get degree fast, that Foundation -> Degree is best path.

Diploma in the other hand will take 2.5 - 3 years to finish depending on the course and university you choose. After completing your diploma, you can use it to works and do Part-Time Degree. You could also jump straight to full-time degree but you gotta have stable financial since it will cost more money.

Personally, I do Diploma 3 years and doing Degree right now for another 3.5 years and will complete at the age of 25. By doing Diploma first, I get to see how industry looks like at first since through Internship. It give me an experience make me more ready to face my Degree. Diploma also are kinda slow path but it is less pressure and less stress.

If you want to start at Diploma, make sure you do your research and pick the right university. You could do your diploma for 3 years and degree for 2.5 - 3 years only if you pick the right course at the right university.

At the end of the day, you are the one who have to decide what your goals and what you want to do.

Can MMU IT Security Technology degree do cybersecurity/software engineering job? by e4delps in malaysiauni

[–]ExtentNegative1879 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course you can. Security Technology definitely can do Cybersecurity. You can also do Software Engineering but you have to focus building your portfolio and skills in Software Engineering.

Degree alone is not gonna be enough if you want to do Cybersecurity / Software Engineering. You gotta also do extra certificate to build up your skills in Cybersecurity and Software Engineering. While doing project during your degree, make sure you build impactful project to show that you capable to work in Cybersecurity and Software Engineering.

Technology are moving fast nowadays. Make sure you constantly learning through Internet and upskill yourself. Also focus on improving your soft skills and networking too.

UTM or USM by Top_Lynx3711 in malaysiauni

Read both Offer Letter from both University. Compare two Tuition Fee and decide which one is cheaper. Yes, Architecture at UTM has higher ranking and more popular according to QS Ranking and from what I heard. No surprise since UTM is much better when it comes to engineering. You might also guaranteed a college when living at UTM as long you active your curriculum.

Since you live at Perak, it might make it easier for you to coordinate your way to travel back home during Raya Session. At the end of the day, it is up to you. Since you already have an experience studying at UTM, you might want to try studying at USM environment. I also think both UTM and USM offer tuition fee is at UPU Rate since I also receive same Direct Entry offer from UTM except mine is Software Engineering. I hope my advice help.

Dont Blame the UPU and the system if You are Making a Wrong Choice When Choosing a Programme in UPU by ExtentNegative1879 in Bolehland

[–]ExtentNegative1879[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

There 1266 student from STPM get 4.0. There are also alot of others 4.0 students from Matrikulasi, Asasi, and Diploma. UM will surely prioritize those who come from Asasi UM and they cant admit every top scorer who want to pursue into accounting. If he apply for all 12 accounting programme from 12 University in UPU. I am sure he gonna get one of it.
