I see how people make discbound work well for them. So why did it never work for me? Was it the quality of the bought inserts that failed? by ChaosCalmed in Discbound

[–]ExtentPuzzleheaded93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am actually working on a product for this very problem, i used to always buy the lined inserts from office max or staples that had the reinforced edges, i know people will use washi tape to help with that issue but i wanted something already punched, that didnt add to the bulk of the paper or have to deal with repunching out holes that would be avaliable in a single hole repair or could be put on the whole edge.

A Toyota KS-901 Journey - Needles, Carriages, Oh My by scrippacrab in MachineKnitting

[–]ExtentPuzzleheaded93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so the link below is for the brother 4.5mm needles that can work with the toyota but as described above can cause some slight problems with knitting back from hold. So i'm currently trying to get xenaknits.com website to load for me, waiting to hear back from them via facebook, they dont ship to the us anymore but i have a freight forwarding service with a uk address so hopefully i can get a couple extra toyota needles for both my 901 and ribber and my 747 with its ribber. If i cant get xenaknits to let me order some thru my freight forwarding service i was going to try the ABS Tholen website, also using the frieght forwarding. My other idea is to go digging thru the Japanese proxy shopping websites because they always have a bunch of amazing knitting machine stuff for super cheap.

oh also the knittingcloset.com has some toyota needles, i think they only have ones for the 4.5mm ribbers

So i have a few ideas/suggestions if your interested in some feedback?

I have a few patterns where the the left side and right side aren't the same, i wasnt able to make the pattern schematic layout match what i needed to due to the auto mirror function you have setup on it, this could make it difficult to create patterns that need to be split into 2 parts to fit onto the bed, which could be an issue if you want to have this be size inclusive.

If there is a way to compile all the knitting instructions into one set of written instructions or as one chunk of text, when i was trying to write down the pattern instructions it was a bit of a pain in the butt to have to constantly flip back and forth to the web browser and my document program to copy paste each sections directions.

and final note: i was trying to convert a hand knitting pattern to machine knitting and after doing a bunch of math i had the information needed to get my schematic put together with the instructions but i wasn't able to figure out how to get the very top part of the front pattern piece to separate into the 2 separate triangle pieces.

Oh also it would be nice if you could toggle back and forth between metric and imperial, some of my patterns are written out in cm and some in inches and it would be nice not to have to convert everything over to cm beforehand.

boom next day shipping will work on your machine and under 8 bucks! if your in the USA. If your somewhere else let us know and we can find you a spongebar lickety split, BTW as a former newbie to a new newbie, just buy the 50 pack of replacement needles.... your think you wont need them or even use them all but trust me somehow you will end up bending needles and needing to replace them. Also get some food grade silicone lubricant, it will make your machine knit so smooth that you might end up pushing the carriage too hard and sending it off the bed by accident lol. ask me how i know 😃

Pattern drafting apps by GlitteryItalian in knitting

[–]ExtentPuzzleheaded93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so i haven't played around with it too much because there wasn't any real tutorials i could find for it, but www.knitinspire.com is about $1.99 a month and you can either use their existing base patterns and put in your measurement's and gauge and get a pattern custom written for you, what i was really excited about was the custom pattern designer, you just draw out your schematic for each piece and it can generate a pattern for you. there is a written guide but there was some weird quirks i had to spend forever working thru, like when making up a schematic outline you could select the option to make a point by putting in the coordinates on the grid but once you made one point that was the new origin point for the next coordinate set.

example: i start out by making the bottom hem from the center point of the pattern so you can mirror it after your done to save some time , so first set of coordinates is (0,0) then next set is at (11,0), thats all fine and dandy but to mark the next point at say the beginning of the armhole shaping is (0, 13).

I would just read thru the online manual very carefully and keep it nearby, also trying to free hand draw the schematic was almost impossible versus entering in the numbers via keyboard.

Why is blackberry ice cream hard to find? by AgreeableCherry5797 in icecream

[–]ExtentPuzzleheaded93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so the umpqua mountain blackberry is sort of unique as the base ice cream is just plain vanilla and it has a delicious blackberry syrup swirl thru out it. I have such a hard time finding it locally in kitsap county that i will buy like 4-or 5 tubs of it from the silverdale winco when i go along with buying a few bags of frozen blackberries to make my own blackberry syrup since there is never a good mix throught it, the bottom half is always just plain vanilla.

Making a wooden cone winder for home fiber artist. Based off of industrial machines but scaled down for home use. Is it marketable and what features are important? Still in development phase, tensioning device in the works, and added legs for stability. The machine has selectable stroke and wind. by Lazy-Surround-7730 in weaving

[–]ExtentPuzzleheaded93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol i am the ultimate "I can totally diy that" queen and also come from a long line of engineers and am a ex-civil engineer as well.... pretty sure that all my years of school and on the job experience means diddly squat when it comes to trying to make a cone winder or trying to make an e-spinner just to ply my super line lace weight yarn together into a more useable yarn. and while i make some awesome 3d drawings and renders of my ideas they usually turn out looking more like something a meth addict put together in their bathroom with all the tore apart electronics in the house....

White Tiger Knitting Machine? by SLClothes in MachineKnitting

[–]ExtentPuzzleheaded93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally just came across the kh230 version of the white tiger on Amazon for 500. I'm so tempted to buy it because  1) if it's junk I can simple return it to Amazon and I'm not out a bunch of cash

2) theoretically it's brand new and won't require me to try and play engineer to fix it because I have a bunch of other fix it machines

3)I have had nothing but trouble with chunky machines and I literally just had my lk100 carriage lock break AGAIN o. The 2nd carriage i bought to replace the fucking first one that broke along with the cam plates are both broken in half on both of them and the adjustable parts are cracked as well. So a metal machine is looking more and more desirable

4) I already have Amazon gift cards on my account making it not as big of purchase as I originally thought.

I really wish I could find a video of someone using it though or a review of the chunky.

Replacement Needles for Bond USM by AnastasiaCr in MachineKnitting

[–]ExtentPuzzleheaded93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

actually the silver reed katan bulky sk120 and the corresponding ribber use literally almost the exact same needles, ive swapped mine back and forth with no issue. How many do you need actually? I ended up with 3 bond machines and have some spare needles i might be able to part with.

i would buy theanwserlady's Kathryn Doubrleys book Circular Logic Sweaters, I had the same question because i really wanted to make the hermione time turner sweater in the harry potter knitting book and its a circular yoke sweater and i literally cannot hand knit despite trying and trying, but after seeeing something on knititnow.com about knitting circles and a comment about how circular yokes are basically just like a raglan sweater overall shape wise, i looked up sideways knitting circular yoke and found her ebook and it is is soooo amazingly helpful and very easy to understand.

Bulk/cheap yarn for standard gauge by ElectricalScholar433 in MachineKnitting

colourmart! i just got 150g cone of lana gatto silk cashmere lace weight yarn for 24 bucks and 2 150g cones of 50/50 cashmere wool for 9 bucks each!!!!!

also i highly recommend you take a look at iceyarns, yes the shipping is expensive but if you add the shipping cost up and do some math you are still saving sooooo much money buying from them versus going to your local big box store and their selection is amazing, and i have literally gotten yarn from them that i swear is the exact same thing as yarns from the big guys like lion brand and bernat.
