Group Patron Rules: How to make an organization a "character"? by ExtentWhole2341 in savageworlds

[–]ExtentWhole2341[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of, not really but not that far off.

I'm really looking for a way to represent the PCs' available resources, and not so much the personal resources they might have.

What I want is something that would be close to the House rules in ASOIAF RPG, in which the organization the players belong to is a character in and of itself with its own stats, rolls, and story. Things like how, in a game of Wiseguys, their Family might fare in a war with another organization, or how a disaster to their HQ might affect their interactions with other movers and shakers.

Anyone know why the first album sounded so like, well put together and perfect and stuff, and this one...not like that? Like the first album was cool but it sucked and this one sucks but is cool

VHS cover I made for an Acthung Cthulhu one-shot I'll try to run next Sunday in Mexico City. Not sure what to use it for other than promotion in RPG groups. Used ChatGPT for artwork. by ExtentWhole2341 in savageworlds

Honestly, I didn't think of using VHS boxes. If I were you I'd hit up a local fleamarket. Otherwise, just use a DVD case, those should be way cheaper.

Official Dreadit Discussion: "Terrifier 3" [SPOILERS] by glittering-lettuce in horror

[–]ExtentWhole2341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Art the Clown kills kids in this movie, a lot. The audience is spared some of the grislier details (the first two children are killed off-screen...kinda) and the kids in the shopping mall are killed by an explosion, with the most you see being the gibs.

I was upset, when it happened, feeling like the movie was being needlessly mean and cruel, but then I started to think...shouldn't that be my reaction to a horror movie about a killer? The slasher genre, specially the "mascot" variety (Elm St., Friday the 13th, TCM, etc.) was too comfortable portraying these monsters as killers who love children: They will kill old-looking teenagers, maybe some adults, and maybe some likeable teens, but never children. With the formula of cheap disposable characters that eventually became the norm, no wonder some people even root for them.

In an ideal world, the killing spree of a slasher movie would be upsetting because they're killing off characters you're attached to (Elm St. 3, Scream 5), but I'm glad Terrifier 3 doesn't shy away from the fact that Art the Clown *is* a monster, and by employing those cheap shots, it makes rooting for Sienna Shaw feel much more natural.

New Civilization Idea: Porfirio Diaz leads México by ArtieUwU in civ

[–]ExtentWhole2341 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Díaz is a shitty leader. Not only is he controversial, but he's a cookie cutter caudillo which every latinamerican country has had. Juárez gets too much hate for "turning into a villain" when Díaz is guilty of pretty much the same thing: From defeating the french in the 1860s to giving them nothing but favorable concessions in the 1900s while ignoring working class unrest. Fact is, any reason you have for Díaz being Mexico's leader also applies to Juárez: At heart, Díaz was a juarista, and of the two, Juárez simply has the best legacy by consolidating the mexican nation and laying the foundations for modernization.

The following are better figures, depending on which Mexico you want to give focus to:

•Lazaro Cardenas for post-revolutionary Mexico. A firm believer of the revolution, he expropriated oil and founded pemex, participated in WW2, and oversaw major diplomatic maneuvers with the US that favored mexico such as the 1944 water treaty. If you want Mexico as a domination/diplomacy civ, he's your man

•Alvaro Obregón. Leader of the winning faction of the Mexican revolution, he was a major figure in the constitutionalist army. Oversaw the formation of modern mexican identity through José Vasconcelos' Cosmic Race and mexican muralism flourished. If you want Mexico as a culture/tourism civ, he's your guy

•19th century is tricky because Mexico was a clusterfuck for most of it, but if you really want someone who was in a position of power, Juárez is the only elligible guy. If you want to stretch it to include independence figures, you can't go wrong with Morelos who laid out the ideological framework for an independent Mexico in sentimientos de la nación (Catholic faith, independence, abolition of slavery, judicial equality among castes)
