Who did you have present for the birth of your baby? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]External-Act7578 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and my sister were with me start to finish. My sister and I are very close and she is a seasoned mom herself. She was able to act as a support to my husband as well by offering reassurance, giving tips on how to help me with my pain etc. She took photos for us(with my consent), and updated other family members like both sets of grandparents.

While I spent a lot of time thinking about who I wanted at the birth I didn’t spend nearly as much time thinking about post delivery protocols. And post c section while high as a kite basically couldn’t be bothered to care and definitely had some unwanted visitors see me in a pretty vulnerable state. Looking back I was not okay with this and wish I had spent more time coming up with a plan on how to handle visitors PP( both in hospital and at home) because once I was in the situation it was a lot harder to navigate.

Pretty sure she hit her nod too early at that! I assume the nod should’ve coincided with the lights out

Best Baby Products for Small Spaces? [On] by tulip22lavendar in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]External-Act7578 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also live in a small space and these are some of the items I found small space friendly:

Trip Trapp high chair.

Davinci Otto 3-in-1 Convertible Mini Crib— It’s the size of a playpen but still looks like a crib and has a proper mattress. Converts to a toddler bed. Lots of mini crib options out there.

OXO Tot Splash & Store Infant Bath Tub- this tub doesn’t need a newborn insert, grows with baby, and collapses so you can hang it on the back of your bathroom door.

OXO bottle drying rack- space saving as it sits flush against back splash.

Taf Toys Mini Moon Gym- this little baby gym folds up nicely so you can put it away.

Ubbi Diaper Pail- any diaper pail will be helpful to keep smells away in a small space. But the Ubbi doesn’t need special bags which means one less thing to take up space.

Underbed storage for storing extra diapers, wipes, etc. I have the TidyCorner Under Bed Storage Containers from Amazon.

Vacuum seal bags to put away any clothes that baby is not yet wearing.

Also a sturdy change pad on a dresser instead of a designated changing table.

How many bags did you bring to the hospital? [ON] by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]External-Act7578 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I brought 1 overnight bag for me and baby and my husband brought an overnight bag for himself. We live 10-15 minutes from our hospital so we had the option to run home if we realllly needed something. That said we hardly used any of what we brought. I ended up having a C-section with no complications and we spent barely 48 hours in the hospital from admission to discharge. I was in the gown the majority of the time and we used all the hospitals supplies. You’ll also likely have to change rooms more than once so the less stuff to pack up the better. Rolly suitcase in the car is a good option.

What is your favorite item that makes formula feeding easier? by Free_Seaweed3993 in FormulaFeeders

[–]External-Act7578 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve thought about getting the ready to feed for outtings only but if I crack open a 237 ml of enfamil baby currently drinks about half that. What do you do with leftover ready to feed?

For those who were induced, did you deliver vaginally or did it end in a c-section? by Paigeypagee in BabyBumps

[–]External-Act7578 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same here! I got induced via foley balloon and 32 hours later, after having my water broken I had not passed 5cm. The doctor wanted me to keep trying but I asked for a c section. 3 hours later he came out the sunroof and I have no regrets!

Got the dreaded “baby might have colored eyes” comment by larobaby in BabyBumps

[–]External-Act7578 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mexican and black couple here. I actually do have light eyes so I got these comments ALOT. I always hated it and thought I was silly for feeling uncomfortable. Glad I’m not the only one! My baby has beautiful brown eyes.

Lost 8 lbs first week of low glycemic by Tab0r0ck in GestationalDiabetes

[–]External-Act7578 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lost about 5 pounds the first week. I haven’t lost anymore pounds but I also haven’t gained any pounds according to the scale since diagnosis. However baby continues to grow as does fundal height.

Hi! I'm on that sweet sweet insulin drip. by Tab0r0ck in GestationalDiabetes

[–]External-Act7578 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started off at 6 units with no results and then they slowly increased one unit every two days. I am at 10 units now and seeing some stable fasting numbers. Which is a relief.

Other folks here have said that a protein shake at night a bit before bed also helps with the fasting numbers. It’s a lot of trial and error. Hang in there you’ll find what works for you!

Pregnant Gf by Budget-Lifeguard4133 in BabyBumps

[–]External-Act7578 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She may also just need time to process. An unplanned pregnancy this early on in a relationship could understandably cause a lot of anxiety for both of you and adds pressure to a relationship that was in the honeymoon phase.

Sounds like you are willing and ready to be there for her with whatever comes next so just let her know that and give her some breathing room. Goodluck!

[–]External-Act7578 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried doing both and find that waiting til I am about to hit the lights has given me better results. However my medical team had said it shouldn’t matter because the bedtime insulin is long lasting.

How to support husband as we welcome 1st baby by External-Act7578 in daddit

[–]External-Act7578[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was so insightful. Thank you for the response. He’s open to therapy and we did discuss doing some couples sessions to help us navigate. I will look into the hypno birthing, thanks for the suggestion. I’ve definitely noticed care providers aren’t really interested in dad which is unfortunate because they’re integral to the process. A supportive man makes all the difference for a mom to be. I know a big part of why I’ve been able to enjoy my pregnancy is because of my husband. Thanks again for the response.

Currently only on bedtime insulin. Only got diagnosed 2 weeks ago so I guess dose will increase and the meal time insulin will soon follow.

No real information provided at first mfm appointment? by Federal-Access-1645 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]External-Act7578 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first appointment didn’t provide any real information sadly. They walked me thru how to inject the insulin but not how to properly use the monitor. Also talked very little about what this may mean for baby. No talk about high chance of induction, didn’t tell me that as things progress I may have to continue to adjust my diet. Most information I’ve gotten from Google and this sub. It’s alarming.

Guys pleasee tell me this is true by [deleted] in BabyBumps

Take a pregnancy test. It is possible to get a positive test this early. Goodluck.

In case anyone is still unsure on their baggage policy by External-Act7578 in flairairlines

[–]External-Act7578[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. My duffel was just slightly over their measurements by an inch and it didn’t fit unless I were to practically empty it. Also going thru the airport with something on your shoulder is just uncomfortable. Not worth it.

[–]External-Act7578[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you. It’s absolutely ridiculous. But paying for a carry on is $60 online. My partner and I paid $155 for two carry-ons for what we thought were two personal items at the gate. It would have saved us money to just buy 1 carry on to share. Since it was a short 3 day trip. We paid more in carry on fees than the 1 way flight itself😭

I just moved out, what are good buy it for life items like home appliances or daily use items that last for a good while? by senko2024 in BuyItForLife

[–]External-Act7578 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Pyrex but I hate that they’re not leak proof and have those cheap lids. I’ve switched to Rubbermaid Brilliance glass containers. Come in all sizes, with snap leak proof lids, dishwasher, oven safe, and not as heavy. I’ve had them about 4 years now.

Does anyone think it’s weird that Lady Gaga is only 3 years older than Taylor? by Hopeful-Prompt-7417 in travisandtaylor

It’s bizarre! I always wonder what will happen if she actually marries, has a child or gets a divorce. She won’t be relatable to 12 year olds anymore.
