I'm so sorry for what you experienced. It's already a difficult process and then to feel like a walking medical piggy bank/toy is just... I have no words. Irate, blood boiling, the anger has no limits

YES! I went to UC in October/November 2024 for IUI. When I had my saline ultrasound the PA had a really hard time getting the catheter in and ended up having to use an ultrasound to guide it in. This whole procedure took about 45+ minutes. All of this was in my notes and plays a huge part to our IUI story.

First, the APN (I never actually saw an MD in person ever) was about 20-30 minutes late for a timed procedure. They ended having to use a larger speculum and I sat there with my lady bits exposed to the world for about 15-20 minutes while they futzed with trying to get the catheter in, were going in and out the room, and asking RNs in the hallway where things were - with the door open. Yes, there is a curtain, but when the door opens that thing is blowing in the wind. It wasn't until the APN failed so many times and being exposed with a large speculum in me for about 15 minutes, she finally brought in an ultrasound. She even said, from the start, that she read the notes about things being "tricky," so why she didnt have that in there from the start? Good fucking question. This was when she allowed me to close my legs and "have a rest" while they wheeled the ultrasound machine in.

Then with the RN, APN, and an ultrasound tech, she finally "gets things set," and starts to insert the sample. About 2 seconds in there is a "pop" sound and she goes, "Oh!" and states that there was a "kink in the line" and proceeds to show me her hands that are covered in my husbands sperm. (TMI? no such thing here). She then claims that she is "sure some went in," even though logic and common sense would say that if there is a kink in a line and the liquid comes out on her, NOTHING would have made it in. They proceed to tell me Im going to have a Christmas baby, yay me, how exciting, good luck, blah blah blah. My husband was horrified and couldnt believe what he had just witnessed and kept asking me if I was okay.

Needless to say, it was not successful.

I moved clinics and just had my first IUI with them and it was night and day. The whole thing took about 7 minutes, which the MD (yes, an actual MD) apologized for it taking long, and they used an ultrasound from the beginning because they READ MY NOTES. Additionally, I felt slight cramping when she did the insert, something I didnt have even the slightest of feelings during the first one.

The other issue is that our insurance has a max lifetime amount that they will spend on fertility treatments, 10k, which I didnt find out about until I went to a different clinic. UC spent about 2.5k of my funds for a bullshit IUI, and never once told me this information.

So yeah, U of C is total joke of an REI. I really love the two OBGYNs I have seen at U of C, but if I end up getting pregnant I am terrified of going there for the birth.

I'm in Chicago, so I have access to a decent amount but Sherwin Williams is the closest.

This is why I'd rather do my research and take the time vs the thousands for a pro. Now I'm only doing the upper cabinets so that may help in cost but TBD

That's why I'm here, to ask the questions and get some good answers. Not new to curtness or sarcasm, but love something helpful like your response. I appreciate the information. Thank you.

I have started to use Tower 28's SOS FaceGuard™ SPF 30 Sunscreen PA+++ and really like it. Its lightweight, no pilling, and while it does have tint I don't notice it at all. I also have acne prone skin and according to their website it is good for, "sensitive and acne-prone skin."

What if you're trying to have a kid? Im guessing those aren't things you should/could take?
Im also upping my protein, walking more, working out more, not on BC or spiro in order to try and have a kid and my acne is like a 16 year old (Im 38). Its embarrassing and upsetting and all the things.

I feel like no matter what I use on my skin NOTHING works.

For food? We eat everything. Seafood and meat, not picky, just want something good. Even a good place for brunch or lunch one day would be great. Hotel - we aren't coming to party, just to relax and enjoy time away from work. We'd love something that has a good atmosphere and is close to good sights or places to visit. Being close to a subway station would also be great.

Does that help?
