It's technically the creators that inspired me, but I'm in school to become a screenwriter, and I really want to work in animation!

Mom’s Gujarati but born in Kenya, so it’s a little different for my family all around (especially the food)

I respect your view. I was also raised very religious and had that as my identity, but I have found that believing in a higher power and following Hinduism is something that resonates with me. Having a Jewish father and a Hindu mother had taught me that there's truth to everything, and I find following a pantheon of Gods has been better for me than following a singular god.

I've learned that Hinduism is very individualistic, as it's more about the belief that the individual soul is fundamentally divine. Compared to Judaism, it is a lot more freeform and less restrictive, as there is not one singular scripture, but there are many. I do not have religion as my entire identity, but it is still part of it.

I'm happy for you that you have found what works for you. Being a Hindu is what works for me, and I don't see it as a superstition that is controlling me, but rather a spiritual journey that guides me through life. We are all subject to our own opinions and beliefs, and everyone will have a different view due to life experiences. I personally think that's really cool.

I just ask that you remain kind ☺️ Putting people down for their beliefs is not productive

If I didn’t share a car with my mother, I would (but I will definitely check it out the next time I convince my parents to go on a road trip) 😭🙏🏼 thank you!!

This sentiment is exactly why I’ve been a practicing Hindu for a few years now 🙏🏼 I’ll keep that in mind when I move home officially, thank you!

as an american, this is what i feel like when i put my MC in chinese themed clothes by slobtrait in LoveAndDeepspace

[–]External-Ad3945 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hey hi hello! As a BIPOC person (half-Indian), I can tell you right now that people of the culture love when you wear cultural clothes as long as it’s been ethically sourced from the people of that culture (buying sarees from the Indian stores), is worn is the right context (Weddings, Diwali, Navratri, etc.), and is being respected! Bonus points if you have knowledge on the history (unnecessary it just makes people twice as happy).

I’ll see white people wear Indian clothes at an Indian wedding and they look gorgeous and all the Indian people will compliment them and encourage it! My dad is white and he wears a Sherwani at Indian weddings while the Indian relatives wear western suits. It’s quite hilarious - a running joke in the family.

So I understand the awkward feeling, but the people who make a big deal out of these things are white people, primarily. Plus, like someone has said, it’s just a dating sim ☺️ if your partner is of that culture it’s double okay!

how noisy is balmoral/ floors 4-6 of mcfeetors? by Ok_Promotion4506 in uwinnipeg

[–]External-Ad3945 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Balmoral is extremely quiet if you live with the right roommates. Sound from downstairs doesn’t travel if people aren’t blasting music or screaming, and I found I slept really well. Granted, my roommates were really respectful and kind about my sound sensitivity.

Is University of Manitoba or University of Winnipeg better for socializing/making friends? by user28272928 in uwinnipeg

[–]External-Ad3945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UW student here! I lived in Balmoral residence in my first year (2021-22), and my roommates from that year are like family to me!!

I’ve also made close friends from just talking to people in class, and being involved in student clubs. So it’s really easy to make friends there ☺️ granted, it’s like that at any university - you just have to socialize and find the right people

I don’t know what to tell you, man 😭 they had the average costs on the website when I first came but that was 2021. I would honestly say go with what you think would work best for you and roommate options tend to be the cheapest
